Prague
Your journey begins in the glorious city of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic that only until 1989 was behind the Iron Curtain. The city is home to one of Europe’s best preserved city centres, with its architecture dating to the 14th century, and despite the number being closer to 1,000 its nickname ‘City of a Hundred Spires’ remains today.    Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your luxurious hotel for a two-night stay. This evening, join your fellow travellers and Tour Director for a welcome drink.

Prague
Discover one of Europe’s most magical cities during a guided tour this morning.?You will pass the Jewish Quarter and Jan Palach Square, considered one of Prague’s most striking. Cross the medieval stone arch Charles Bridge and visit the Old Town Square, where you will see the famous Astronomical Clock. Legend has it that the designer of this masterpiece was blinded on completion so he could never make another piece as beautiful.   You will have some free time to wander the city and enjoy lunch before your choice of Scenic Freechoice this afternoon.   Freechoice: Make your choice from this afternoon’s Scenic Freechoice activities: Beer walking tour of Prague: Did you know that in Prague the locals drink more beer per capita than any other nation in the world? During this tour you will join your local guide on a walk through some of the most historic parts of the city, such as Wenceslas Square, enroute to one of the city’s most popular beer halls. Along the way your guide will share some of their personal experiences of growing up during the socialist regime, while tasting some of the local brew produced in this region as well as some local snacks. Prague Castle tour: Explore the seat of Czech rulers at Prague Castle, a vast complex covering more than 70,000 square metres, considered the largest castle in the world. The castle has its roots in the 9th century, though there are buildings dating from every period of history spread throughout the grounds. Visit St. Vitus Cathedral, the largest cathedral in the Czech Republic, as well as the Old Royal palace, the former residence of Bohemian Royalty and the picturesque Golden Lane. Join your fellow guests for a traditional Czech dinner in a local restaurant in the heart of the city. 

Prague > Dresden > Berlin
This morning, you’ll depart for Dresden, known as Florence on the Elbe. Considered one of the greenest cities in Germany, with open-air parks, gardens and surrounding forest, as well as charming riverside promenades, the city is also famed for its music and culture and is home to Germany’s oldest Christmas Market.   Today you will enjoy an orientation tour to see the Frauenkirche Church, which was reduced to rubble after the Second World War and took 60 years to rebuild, the Castle of the Electors of Saxony, the Semper Opera House, and Zwinger Courtyard in the heart of the Old Town. Afterwards you will continue your journey through the picturesque Spreewald Forest to Germany’s capital, Berlin, where you will stay for three nights in one of the city’s most opulent hotels.

Berlin
Berlin is a city of contrasts, possessing both beauty and grit, historic architecture and cutting-edge design, and a vibrant youthful vibe with a tumultuous history never far from mind. Your introduction to this fascinating city begins with a guided tour. You will see the 18th century neoclassical Brandenburg Gate, which was a symbol of division during the war but is now one of unity, and the traditional State Opera House. You will then drive along the famous ‘Unter den Linden’, a boulevard that runs from Brandenburg Gate to the City Palace and visit Checkpoint Charlie, the former border crossing between east and west Berlin.

Berlin
Spend the day exploring the city of Berlin and learn about its Cold War history or venture to the nearby city of Potsdam.   Freechoice: Explore your way with a choice from the following Scenic Freechoice excursions: Berlin Wall and Hackesche Hofe: Visit the Berlin Wall Memorial, built to remember the Cold War that divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989, and see the only stretch of the infamous wall that remains. Visit Potsdam and Cecilienhof Palace: Journey to Potsdam, a royal city created by Prussian kings 300 years ago, located a short drive from Berlin. Here, a local historian will share their insights on the town and its history, and you will see the Sanssouci Palace (Palace of Frederick the Great) and visit Cecilienhof Country House, where the Potsdam Agreement – to disarm and demilitarise Germany – was signed in 1945.   Enrich This afternoon’s Scenic Enrich: Tea time at Reichstag with Historian: Visit the Reichstag parliament building with a local historian. Enjoy coffee and cake under the impressive Glass Dome while listening to enthralling tales of the city’s history. The Reichstag was burnt down in 1933, a month after Hitler came into power. Claiming Communists were planning a violent uprising, the government issued the Reichstag Fire Decree, which abolished several constitutional protections and paved the wave for Nazi dictatorship.  

Berlin > Warsaw
Cross the border into Poland, towards the city of Warsaw. You will stop along the way in the city of Poznan, known for its colourful narrow merchant houses that were built in the 16th century. Here you will have a tour of the Old Town and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant before continuing to Warsaw. The capital of Poland was completely rebuilt after it was razed during the Second World War, which is why it’s often referred to as the Phoenix City. Whole neighbourhoods have been revitalised and today it is rich in culture and has a thriving dining scene and nightlife.

Warsaw
Largely destroyed during World War II, Warsaw’s historic centre has been rebuilt and has attained World Heritage-listed status. Your local guide will take you through the city’s key sites including the Jewish Ghetto, where during the war some 380,000 Jews were appallingly sealed inside. You’ll also visit the monument to the Ghetto heroes, the Palace of Culture and Science, and the Chopin Memorial, dedicated to the 20th century composer who grew up here and whose music is world-renowned. Freechoice: Today you have two vastly different yet equally fascinating tours to choose from with this afternoon’s Scenic Freechoice: Pierogi Cooking Class: Learn to make Poland’s national dish, Pierogi – traditional dumplings that have been a favourite meal since the 13th century. Warsaw > Krakow
Travel to Krakow today, stopping enroute at Auschwitz, where you’ll visit the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp. In operation from 1940 to 1945, more than one million Jews tragically died here. Take a poignant walk through the grounds, which are made up of original camp blocks, barracks and guard towers, and see the museum which houses personal possessions of the prisoners and the SS garrison, who were the perpetrators of the crimes committed here.   This afternoon you will continue to Krakow, arriving early this evening. Poland’s former royal capital until 1596, Krakow is the only major city that wasn’t reduced to rubble in the Second World War.

Krakow
Today’s sightseeing of Krakow includes a walking tour of the well-preserved historic centre, a World Heritage-listed site with 13th century merchant houses lining its sprawling market square. You will also visit the splendid 14th century Wawel Castle and Cathedral, perched on a limestone outcrop that dominates the city. The museum collection here includes Flemish tapestries, Italian Renaissance paintings, armoury, royal jewels and a coronation sword.   This afternoon you’ll visit the nearby 800-year-old Wieliczka Salt Mines, which are made up of around 245 kilometres of corridors, underground chambers and salines lakes. You’ll see statues of historic and mythical figures, sculpted by miners out of rock salt and view old mining tools and machines.   Tonight, enjoy delicious Polish cuisine at a local restaurant.

Krakow > Budapest
Cross the border into Slovakia en route to the Hungarian capital, Budapest. A warm welcome awaits from   your crew as you board your Scenic Space-Ship. Tonight, enjoy a welcome reception.

Budapest
Divided by the Danube, with Buda on one side and Pest on the other, this city became united in 1873 when a newly built bridge connected the two. The city is an architectural treasure trove comprising styles from Gothic to Art Nouveau and everything in between. Visit both Buda and Pest, the two districts that are separated by the Danube that make up the city. End your tour with a mesmerising piano recital at the Institute for the Blind. Budapest’s Past & Present: This walking and coach tour will give insight on Budapest’s communist past and life today as part of the European Union, including the 1956 Hungarian revolution and the significant Jewish events that have shaped modern culture. City Tour and Hospital in the Rock: Start your coach tour with a visit to Gellert Hill for magnificent views across the city, followed by a tour of Budapest. See the Fisherman’s Bastion and Matthias Church before visiting the Hospital in the Rock – a former top-secret nuclear bunker and emergency hospital. Thermal Baths: Budapest is known for its thermal waters and today you can relax in the natural hot springs at Gellert Baths. Guided hike to Buda Hill: Strap on your walking shoes for a beautiful hike up to the World Heritage-listed site of Buda Hill. See Varket Bazar and beautifully landscaped gardens, all while enjoying great views over the Danube River and the city architecture.   This afternoon is at leisure. Vienna
Today, perhaps wake to a coffee delivered to your suite by your personal butler and relax on board while cruising to the Austrian capital. Vienna oozes charm with magnificent Baroque buildings, ample green spaces from parks to vineyards, a vibrant coffee-house culture and masterpiece-filled galleries and museums.   Enrich Classical concert at Vienna Arsenal: Discover the distinguished Vienna Arsenal this evening as you relish an exclusive private classical concert. Vienna
Wake this morning with Vienna on your doorstep. A city full of grandeur, Austria’s imperial capital is famous for having the world’s most beautiful boulevard, The Ringstrasse, and for the legacy of the Habsburg monarchy. Also known as the City of Music, Vienna fostered the musical geniuses Mozart and Beethoven, among others. Sigmund Freud also lived and worked here in the late 19th century.    Freechoice: Explore your way with a selection from todays Scenic Freechoice activities: Schonbrunn Palace: Explore Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the Habsburg family, one of the most prominent dynasties in European history. Dürnstein > Melk
Your Scenic Space-Ship will dock early this morning in the quaint town of Dürnstein. Surrounded by vineyards, the city has historical buildings that date back to the 12th century, including the hilltop ruins of Dürnstein Castle, where Richard the Lionheart was famously imprisoned between 1192 and 1193. Enjoy some free time exploring this charming town before cruising towards Melk.   Freechoice: Today offers a variety of Scenic Freechoice excursions to choose from: E-biking from Durnstein to Melk: Embark on a 32km guided e-bike ride to soak up the scenery along the Danube as you cycle to the quaint village of Melk, located in Austria’s scenic Wachau Valley. Full day excursion to Salzburg: This morning you will disembark your Scenic Space-Ship in Brandstatt, from here drive via coach to the beautiful city of Salzburg, Austria. Surrounded by alpine peaks and on the banks of the Salzach River, Salzburg is best known as the home of Mozart and The Sound of Music. During a guided tour, explore this incredible city before enjoying lunch at a local restaurant and some free time at your leisure. Regensburg
You will arrive in Regensburg after lunch, so this morning offers a great opportunity to relax and rejuvenate in the Salt Therapy lounge, located on the Jewel Deck.   Boasting a staggering 2,000-year history, Regensburg has one of Germany’s best preserved medieval town centres, with more than 900 of its Romanesque and Gothic buildings listed as World Heritage sites.  Within its narrow laneways, the city lays claim to having the highest concentration of bars in the country. Regensburg is also fringed by the Bavarian Forest, home to hundreds of kilometres of hiking trails and deer, wild boar, fox and otter. Freechoice: Today, Regensburg offers up a selection of Scenic Freechoice touring activities to choose from: Walking tour of Regensburg: On the confluence of three rivers in Bavaria, Regensburg is known as the best-preserved medieval city in Germany. Weltenburg Abbey: Take a ferry through the Danube Gorge to Weltenburg Abbey, the oldest monastery in Bavaria, founded by monks in approximately 600AD. Explore the Abbey and Cloister Church, then sample the award-winning beer produced on site, which has been produced here since the year 1050 making it the oldest monastic brewery in the world. Thurn and Taxis Active Walking Tour: Join an active walking tour from the ship to Thurn und Taxis Castle, where you’ll enjoy a guided tour followed by free time. Thurn und Taxis is a German noble family who can trace their history back to the 12th century.

Nuremberg
You will arrive in Nuremberg, Bavaria’s second-largest city, later this morning. Boasting an Old Town protected by an ancient city wall, where the most enchanting Christmas Markets are held every year, this city is dominated by one of the most significant imperial forts of the Holy Roman Empire, the 12th century Imperial Castle, which was the preferred residence of German kings.  Behind its charming façade, Nuremberg also has a turbulent history. During WWII, the city was favoured by the Nazis for party rallies, the boycotts of Jewish businesses began here, as did the laws that denied Jewish people German citizenship – known as the ‘Nuremberg Laws’. By 1945, the city was reduced to rubble, including large sections of the Imperial Castle and Old Town. Allied powers – the US, Great Britain, France and the Soviet Union – held the Nuremberg Trials here between 1945 and 1946, when Nazi Germany leaders were tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity.   Freechoice: Make your choice from this afternoons Scenic Freechoice experiences: Walking tour of the Old Town: You will drive into Nuremberg’s city centre, passing by the city walls and courthouse before arriving at Augustinerstrasse. Bamberg
Built on seven hills, this World Heritage-listed town has surprises at every turn. Intersected by rivers and canals, enchanting Bamberg has an Old Town resplendent with cobblestoned streets and well-preserved medieval buildings. A charming Old Town Hall which occupies an island on its own, a Gothic and Romanesque-style cathedral and the Old and New Residences – comprising an episcopal palace, a pretty ‘Little Venice’ and a 12th century castle that teeters on the highest of the seven hills – are some of the incredible places you’ll see during your guided city tour.   Freechoice: Stay in Bamberg or choose to explore further afield with this morning’s Scenic Freechoice: Bamberg Old Town Tour: Bamberg is known for its charming World Heritage-listed Old Town, one of Europe’s largest intact old town centres. Learn about its fascinating history as you wander through stunning Medieval and Baroque buildings on a guided city tour. Excursion to Coburg: Journey via coach to Coburg. The city overlooked by an impressive castle, often considered one of the largest and best-preserved forts in Germany. Würzburg
After a leisurely morning on board your Space-Ship, you will arrive in Würzburg. This Baroque city straddles the Main River in the heart of Franconian wine country. Surrounded by undulating vineyards, Würzburg is home to a World Heritage-listed palace, a dominating hilltop fortress, the 15th century Old Main Bridge, and three universities, including Bavaria’s oldest. Freechoice: Spend your day at your preferred pace with one of the following Scenic Freechoice options: Guided city tour & Würzburg Residence: A short transfer via coach is needed to get to the Würzburg Residence, a Baroque palace surrounded by manicured gardens. Upon arrival, guests will be taken on a guided tour of the palace to see its most beautiful rooms, many of which feature valuable paintings, tapestries and period furniture. Afterwards, take a short stroll into the city, where you will have some free time. Explore the shopping area and the many coffee houses, pubs and restaurants; if you’re feeling energetic, you can climb up to Marienberg Fortress. Romantic Road to Rothenburg: From Würzburg drive by coach to Rothenburg along the so-called Romantic Road, an important trading route during the Middle Ages. Your guide will regale you with the history and legends of some of the towns and villages you pass, some of which are more than 1,000 years old. Take a guided tour in Rothenburg, famous for its well-preserved medieval old town, to see the Gothic and Renaissance City Hall as well as the famous City Councillors’ Tavern, where various clocks will show you the legendary story of the “Master Draught”. After the guided walking tour, you will have free time to discover the city on your own.

Wertheim - Miltenberg
This morning you will arrive in the historic town of Wertheim, sitting on the picturesque banks of the Main and Tauber Rivers. Freechoice: You have a diverse range of Scenic Freechoice excursions to choose from today: Wertheim tour and winery: Start your day in Wertheim, an historic town filled with half-timbered houses. Enjoy an orientation tour and some free time to wander around town before being transferred to a local winery. Here you will meet the winemaker to gain an understanding of how wine is produced in this region of Germany. Gamburg Castle tour: Transfer to the town of Gamburg where we will have a guided tour of Gamburg Castle. Here you will also meet the Baron and Baroness for a private reception and learn about their modern aristocratic life over a glass of sparkling wine. Miltenberg tour and local farm visit: Visit a local farm where you will meet the friendly family who own and operate the property. Gain an understanding of daily farm life, see the animals and sample some of the local delicacies produced on site. Afterwards, transfer to the town of Miltenberg, where you will enjoy an orientation tour and free time. Schnapps tasting: After an orientation tour and free time in Miltenberg, visit a local Schnapps distiller to understand how this fruit brandy is produced. Enjoy a tasting of the multiple flavours and free time in this delightful location. E-bike ride from Miltenberg to Wertheim: Cycle along this beautiful stretch of the river from the half-timbered town of Miltenberg to the fairy-tale town of Wertheim. Stop for refreshments while enjoying the spectacular views along the Main River. After touring, you will embark your luxury Space-Ship in Wertheim am Main and set sail for Rüdesheim. Enjoy some of the all-inclusive on board entertainment this evening as you sail through the night.

Rüdesheim > Rhine Gorge
This morning you will disembark in Rüdesheim, a pretty town surrounded by steep vineyards that have been cultivating wine for a staggering two millennia. The charming town centre is filled with half-timbered houses lining cobbled streets, quaint shops selling trinkets such as cuckoo clocks, as well as a smattering of wine taverns and open-air beer gardens.   Freechoice: Select one of this morning’s Scenic Freechoice tours: Siegfrieds Musikkabinett & Cable Car: Take a mini train from the pier to Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum, where some 350 musical instruments from the 18th and 19th century play themselves for your enjoyment. Then board a return cable car that soars over the vineyards to a hilltop where the historic Neiderwald Monument stands. This 17th century statue was built to commemorate the unification of Germany. Hike & Cable Car: Join a local guide for a hike through the rolling vineyards of Rüdesheim, a wine region famous for its Riesling, and enjoy spectacular views of the countryside and Rhine River below. After your hike, board the cable car to return to town.   This afternoon, relax on board the Sun Deck and admire the scenic landscapes as you cruise along the spectacular World Heritage-listed Rhine Gorge in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, a 65-kilometre stretch of the river that is dotted with some 40 hilltop castles and fortresses that span a period of 1,000 years. Sailing down this section of the river is like being transported through the pages of a fairy tale book.   The Rhine is abounded in myths and legends; folklore that has been passed on for generations, including the story of Lorelei. This enchanting female was betrayed by her sweetheart and spent her days bewitching men. As her punishment, she was sent to a nunnery, however on her way she jumped to her death in the river. You will arrive in Cologne today, a city known for its liberal and laidback lifestyle, its unique beer culture, auto industry and the jaw-dropping cathedral that dominates its skyline. Settled by the Romans, this major cultural centre for the Rhineland was built during the Middle Ages but was largely destroyed during WWII. The magnificent Gothic cathedral, an enormous World Heritage-listed site that dates to 1248, was badly damaged but stood tall above the ruins of the city.
