While famous for Machu Picchu and its many archaeological wonders, Peru also boasts an opulent past, still seen today on the streets of Lima. The beauty and history found in this city makes it one that is not to be missed! And with Monograms, you can kick your feet up and enjoy a Pisco Sour at sunset, because we aim to make your Peruvian escape as seamless as possible. That’s why we take care of your hotel reservations, take you to the most popular sights, and provide you with a delicious breakfast every morning. But best of all, we give you a buddy – a Monograms Local Host®, - who will be there to help meet your needs during your stay and make sure that your trip to Lima is a lovely one.
After arriving in Lima, your Local Host will greet you to provide you with personal suggestions of what to see and do during your stay, as well as materials to familiarize you with the layout of the city. The next morning, after an included breakfast, head out on your private city tour to visit the historical city center where you can admire the intricate architecture of buildings that date back to the Spanish colonial era. Visit the cathedral where the remains of Francisco Pizarro remain, and enter the eerie catacombs of the San Francisco Monastery, if you dare. You’ll also have a free day to explore the city independently, or choose to join an excursion to the Pachacamac Pilgrimage Center, an ancient temple built for worship of the sun god.
Forget the headaches and hassles of planning your vacation; Monograms has coordinated the details for you. Our goal is to make traveling easier for you, so all you have to do is pack your bag and go. Peru, here you come!
Arrive in Lima, where you will be met by your Local Host. Heralded as the “City of Kings” by Spanish conquistadors, Lima retains vestiges of its opulent past with its colonial buildings and world-class museums.
Day 2 LIMA.
After breakfast, your included PRIVATE CITY TOUR focuses on Lima’s rich colonial history as well as the modern city. Lima was the bastion of Spanish South America from its founding in 1535 until the independence of the South American republics in the early 19th century. See the cathedral, where the remains of Francisco Pizarro are sealed in a wooden coffin, and San Francisco MONASTERY with its eerie burial crypts.
Day 3 LIMA.
Today is free to explore this city. Consider joining an optional excursion to visit the Pachacamac Pilgrimage Center. Built around 700 AD as a temple for the worship of the sun god, Pachacamac, it housed an oracle that is believed to be one of the main pilgrimage centers in Pre-Columbian Peru, and on par with Cusco.
Day 4 LIMA.
Your vacation ends after breakfast this morning.
