Legacy Of The Incas 2019 From Lima To Lima

Globus $3671 12 Details

Peru is one of the great originating centers of ancient culture, and on this vacation, you’ll discover its archaeological treasures, visit its ancient ruins, and learn about its ancient culture. A highlight of your vacation is a tour to Machu Picchu, where you’ll visit this amazing Inca city. Stand in awe as you witness the ancient ruins surrounded by soaring peaks—one of the most majestic images in South America! Also, see the Temple of Sacsayhuaman, which was built in the early 12th century. Some of the stones used to build the fortress weigh more than 350 tons, and the stones were fit so tightly together that a piece of paper will not fit between the stones. Try to figure out how it was built without the help of modern technology and machinery! While at the ruins, experience a Mother Earth ceremony by a local shaman to thank Mother Earth and to ask for good health and safe travels.

Of course, no trip to Peru is complete without seeing the Nazca Lines. When seen from the air, the lines form precise geometric shapes that number in the hundreds, as well as 70 figures, which include a monkey, whale, hummingbird, shark, spiders, and plants. Archaeologists remain puzzled about why the ancient Nazca people, who thrived here from 200 BC to 500 AD, created illustrations that could only be seen from far above the earth.

These are just some of the many highlights you’ll see on this wonderful Peru vacation. For travelers ready for a new adventure, this tour is not to be missed!

A highlight of your vacation is a tour to Machu Picchu. Stand in awe as you witness the ancient ruins surrounded by soaring peaks—one of the most majestic images in South America!

To round out this Incan Empire discovery, head to Chiclayo—Peru’s Egypt—for an archaeological feast! Spirit Of South America With Amazon & Nazca Lines 2018 From Manaus To Lima

Globus $6490 21 Details

Explore the beauty of South America during this exhilarating vacation to Brazil, Argentina, and Peru. Visit its cosmopolitan and lively cities as well as its ancient treasures and scenic highlights. A vacation highlight is the Amazon Jungle—cruise along the chocolate-colored Rio Negro to its confluence with the yellow-gray Rio Solimões, where the two rivers forming the Amazon meet. Watch for the captivating native flora and fauna. More spectacular scenery awaits at Iguassu Falls, where you will marvel at the stunning panoramic views of many of the 275 cataracts that make up Iguassu Falls—with its clouds of spray, incessant roar, and surrounding tropical growth. And, as a special treat, stay inside Iguassu National Park just steps away from the falls at the famous Belmond Hotel Das Cataratas! You’ll also discover the fascinating cities—Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, and Lima—and, of course, the great Machu Picchu.

Rio de Janeiro is a vibrant, bustling city known for its beautiful beaches and beautiful people. The birthplace of Samba, Rio’s vitality comes alive as you experience its sights, sounds, and flavors. Buenos Aires is regarded as the “Paris of South America” with its chic shopping, French architecture, outdoor cafés, legendary nightlife, and cosmopolitan cuisine. It is famous for its sensuous Tango dance—you’ll even get a Tango dance lesson on your Globus tour! In Lima, your sightseeing focuses on its rich colonial history and includes a visit to the Larco Herrera Museum, which has a large collection of pre-Columbian Peruvian art.

Next, on to a major highlight of your vacation—Machu Picchu, where you’ll stand in awe as you witness the ancient ruins surrounded by soaring peaks—one of the most majestic images in South America! Then, visit the Temple of Sacsayhuaman, a fortress built in the early 12th century with stones weighing more than 350 tons. While at the ruins, experience a Mother Earth Ceremony, performed by a local shaman to thank Mother Earth and to ask for good health and safe travels. No trip to Peru is complete without seeing the Nazca Lines. When seen from the air, the lines form precise geometric shapes that number in the hundreds. Archaeologists remain puzzled about why the ancient Nazca people, who thrived here from 200 BC to 500 AD, created illustrations that could only be seen from far above the Earth.

Vibrant cities, ancient structures, lush biodiversity, mysterious miles of lines and patterns etched into the earth—this vacation to South America has it all! So, grab your camera and be prepared for a trip of a lifetime.

This can be your reality. On this 14-day vacation, Monograms has arranged your hotel reservations, sightseeing, and daily breakfast (as well as six lunches and five dinners). Plus, we recognize that South America can be intimidating, so in each city—Quito, Lima, Cusco & Machu Picchu—we’ve arranged for you to have a Local Host®, someone there for you throughout your stay to ensure everything runs smoothly. A one-of-a-kind feature offered only by Monograms, your Local Hosts will answer questions, offer suggestions, and be your “friend in the city.”

Your vacation begins in Quito, where we can pick you up at the airport and take you to your selected hotel. There, your Local Host will meet you with a set of materials to help familiarize you with the city. The next morning, after an included breakfast, we’ll pick you up at your hotel for private, guided sightseeing with a local expert. Be sure to bring your camera, because there will be a lot of photo opportunities, and we’ve scouted out some of the best picture spots! Then you’re off to the Galápagos Islands and the award-winning Finch Bay Eco Hotel, offering a private, seaside location on Santa Cruz Island surrounded by mangroves and a private beach. With the Finch Bay as your home base for four nights, you’ll experience the Galápagos Islands and understand why the islands fascinated Darwin so much. You’ll visit North Seymour Island, with the largest nesting site of the “magnificent frigate birds” in the Galápagos; the highlands of Santa Cruz, where tortoises can be seen grazing and where you’ll visit a local coffee, sugar cane, and cocoa bean farm; Santa Fé Island, where you’ll see California sea lions and a large species of land iguanas; Divine Bay on Santa Cruz, where we’ll keep an eye out for sea turtles, reef sharks, rays, blue-footed boobies, marine iguanas, and more; the Charles Darwin Research Station, established to conserve the natural habitats and protect the famous giant tortoises; and the Twin Pit Craters, geological depressions of volcanic material where Scalesia trees, ferns, orchids, and mosses can be seen. And don’t forget, throughout your stay you’ll be accompanied by Naturalists, experts who know the native flora and fauna and who help bring the experience to life.

The Galápagos experience is so unique, you may think nothing can top it. But alas, Peru is waiting! In Lima, your Local Host will help you get settled and give you a packet of materials to prepare you for your journey. The next morning, after your included breakfast, we will once again pick you up at your hotel for guided sightseeing with a local expert. In Cusco, sightseeing with a local expert features many of the marvelous structures built by the Incas: semi-circular Kenko Amphitheater; Puca Pucara; and the Temple of Sacsayhuaman, a fortress built in the early 12th century with stones weighing more than 350 tons. A short drive will bring you to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where your sightseeing will include the market town of Pisac, where locals sell their wares at bargain prices, and Ollantaytambo, where you’ll see some of the finest examples of Inca masonry and town planning.

And that’s just the start...we’ve arranged for you to take a train to Machu Picchu, where roughly 1,000 people once lived in 200 structures. Poised high in the jungle, you’ll stand in awe as you witness the ancient ruins surrounded by soaring peaks—one of the most majestic images in South America! With your expert guide, you’ll hear the little-known secrets and insider stories that only a local knows. You’ll even have the chance to witness a sunrise over Machu Picchu with your second included entrance to the ruins, a stunning view indeed!

At Monograms, our goal is to handle all the details for you, so you just have to pack your bags and go. Galapagos Aboard National Geographic Endeavour + Peru's Land Of The Incas

Lindblad Expeditions $11280 15 Details

Thematically, one might ask, why connect a visit to Peru with an expedition to the Galápagos Islands? For that, we have two distinct answers: Firstly, as magnificent as the Galápagos Islands are for wildlife, so is Peru from an historical and archaeological perspective. Secondly, Peru’s capital city of Lima, is less than two hours away by air from Guayaquil. So, if you have the time, you’re almost there anyway!

There are a couple of key issues to point out following our Galápagos adventure cruise aboard National Geographic Endeavour: We spend a full week in Peru. Even though for many the highlight of the trip is an overnight stay in Machu Picchu, the fact is that rushing from sea level through the high altitudes of Machu Picchu and back to sea level in only a few days is just not wise. It takes time to adjust. The main reason however is that there is just so much more to Peru, including Lima, The Sacred Valley of the Inca and the ancient Incan capital of Cusco, which you can read more about in the Day-by-Day itinerary.

So please, read on and we hope you become inspired to join us.

Lindblad Expeditions $6390 9 Details

Upper Amazon: Exploring Peru’s Pacaya-Samiria Reserve
Skim past massive lily pads, peer up at towering ceiba trees and witness glorious sunsets on our journey to the headwaters of the mighty Amazon in the heart of Peru’s rain forest. Every day we slip through an intricate network of jungle waterways aboard motorized skiffs, spotting hundreds of bird species as well as sloths, tamarins and caimans. Watch the Amazon come alive with countless birds in this video from the field.

Life Aboard Delfin II
With its hardwood floors, rattan-draped sofas, wooden slate hammocks and graceful, modern design, Delfin II is more than comfortable as our base for exploration. The only ingredients used by Delfin II's chef that are not local are olive oil and balsamic vinegar – even the chocolates placed on your pillow each night are made on board daily.

The Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve
This immense seasonal flood forest is delimited by two rivers, which meet in the easternmost corner of the reserve to form the Amazon River. Over 60% of the birds in Peru reside in the reserve, while rare pink river dolphins swim its waters, and red howler monkeys swing through its jungle canopy. We’ll even get a chance to meet the native people – called ribereños – who rely on sustainable fishing, hunting and agriculture, just as their ancestors did.

Cruising The Galápagos On Board The Santa Cruz Ii With Peru 2019 From Quito To Lima

Monograms $5669 14 Details

“Land of Eternal Spring” and “Land of Abundance.” Sounds like paradise, doesn’t it? Those are the monikers for Ecuador & Peru—two places you’ll visit on this 14-day vacation to Quito, the Galápagos Islands & Peru—and Monograms makes it simple for you! We’ve arranged your hotel and cruise accommodations, daily buffet breakfast (plus six lunches and five dinners), sightseeing, and transportation. You also have the services of a Local Host® in each city—Quito, Lima, Cusco & Machu Picchu—so you have a friend in each city that can help you get settled, offer suggestions, answer questions, and help you make the most of your trip.

Your vacation begins as soon as you arrive. Your Local Host will greet you in Quito with a warm welcome and a set of materials to help you personalize your trip and start exploring immediately. The next day, after included breakfast, we’ll pick you up at your hotel for a private sightseeing tour with a local expert that features Independence Plaza and the Basilica of San Francisco Plaza Church. After two nights in Quito, we’ll transfer you to the airport for your flight to the Galápagos Islands, where you’ll board the Santa Cruz II for four nights.

On your cruise, you’ll visit Santa Cruz Island, with a white-sand beach and brackish lagoons that serve as feeding grounds for various wading birds; Santiago Island, home to marine iguanas, Galápagos finches, flamingos, sea lions, and a common nesting area for sea turtles; Puerto Egas, known for its black-sand beach, land and marine birds, marine iguanas, and a colony of fur seals; Rábida Island, with its red-colored beach and large colonies of sea lions, marine iguanas, mockingbirds, yellow warblers, and Darwin’s finches; Bartolomé Island, where you’ll hike to the summit for a spectacular view of two beautiful bays and fascinating formations of lava flows; Genovesa Island, where you’ll take a panga ride along the cliffs to see the shore and seabirds nesting on the cliffs’ ledges, and where you’ll climb up Prince Phillip’s Steps to see masked boobies, blue and red-footed boobies, frigatebirds, and more; and finally on Santa Cruz Island, visit a Tortoise Reserve to see the Giant Galápagos Tortoises living in the wild. Throughout your cruise, you’ll be with an expert Naturalist who will bring this destination to life and be able to answer any question you may have.

Then you're off to Peru. When you arrive in Lima, your Local Host will greet you and help you get settled. The next day, after an included breakfast, we’ll pick you up at your selected hotel for guided sightseeing of this historic city. You’ll also have free time to explore on your own (with the assistance of your Local Host of course). Perhaps visit one of the many museums or take an excursion to the Pachacamac Pilgrimage Center, built around 700 AD as a temple for the worship of the sun god, Pachacamac. After two nights in Lima, we’ll transfer you to the airport for your flight to Cusco, where your sightseeing tour with a local expert includes the Santo Domingo monastery and the ancient Inca ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, and Puca Pucara.

From Cusco, we've arranged transportation for you to the Sacred Valley, where you’ll visit Pisac, a market town where locals sell handmade handicrafts at bargain prices, and Ollantaytambo, where you’ll witness some of the finest examples of Inca masonry. Of course, no trip to Peru is complete without seeing majestic Machu Picchu with its roughly 200 structures, many of which are still unsolved mysteries. Travel in a domed-train car through the lush Sacred Valley to Aguas Calientes, the small town at the base of Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, join a local expert for a guided tour of the Machu Picchu ruins and hear the stories that only a local can tell you and imagine what it was like to live here in the 15th century. We've also included an overnight, so you may choose to wake up to watch the sunrise over Machu Picchu and explore the ruins for a second day with your second included entrance.

This vacation covers a lot of territory and would prove difficult to plan on your own, which is why we've handled all the details for you. Between the cruise, the hotels, the sightseeing, and transportation we've arranged, you just have to show up ready to enjoy!
