Welcome to India! Upon arrival in Delhi, you’ll be welcomed by our representatives and whisked to your distinguished luxury hotel, located in the heart of the city, with its iconic and awe-inspiring heritage interwoven with colonial elegance

DAY 3, Friday - Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, Welcome Reception

Our exploration of Delhi begins at the Qutub Minar complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The soaring Victory Tower, the world’s tallest minaret, is known for its elaborate 12th century hand carvings. After a light lunch at a popular restaurant, visit Humayun’s Tomb, a striking example of Mughal architecture that seems to float above the colorful surrounding gardens. Then, join your Tour Manager and fellow travelers for a Welcome Reception and Dinner at the hotel’s elegant restaurant, celebrating your arrival in India!

DAY 4, Saturday - Old Delhi, Jama Masjid Mosque, National Museum, India Gate and New Delhi

A tricycle rickshaw takes us on a ride through the endlessly fascinating streets of Old Delhi to the frenetic 400-year old Chandni Chowk bazaar, one of the oldest in India. With its endless rows of stalls and pungent aromas, you can find anything here from spices to local handicrafts to hand loomed silk Saris. At the great Jama Masjid mosque, the largest in India, walk through the courtyard capable of holding 25,000 devotees. This highly decorative mosque was built between 1644 and 1656 and became the final architectural extravagance of Shah Jahan, the Mughal emperor who built the Taj Mahal. We pass the massive Red Fort, recalling the splendor and magnificence of Mughal Delhi, on our way to visit the National Museum. Its dazzling treasures will highlight thousands of years of Indian history. After lunch, we view New Delhi’s British colonial architecture at India Gate, the war memorial dedicated to Indian soldiers killed in WWI, Parliament House, and the Presidential Palace. If you wish, spend the rest of the afternoon on your own or, opt to join the Tour Manager on a visit to golden-domed Gurudwara Bangla Sahib Temple, a prominent Sikh house of worship; learn more about this intriguing culture. Dinner at the hotel’s lovely dining room

DAY 5, Sunday - Enchanting Agra

We depart Delhi for a scenic drive to the enchanting city of Agra with its storybook past, rich heritage and dazzling architectural masterpieces. A visit we’ve all been eagerly anticipating! As we arrive at our luxurious landmark hotel, we’re enveloped by our first views of the iconic Taj Mahal! Tonight, a delightful à la carte dinner at the hotel

DAY 6, Monday - Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah

You can choose to rise early for a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal; a once in a lifetime experience! Stand in awe before this glittering white marble work of art sparkling in the morning sun, reflecting shades of rose-red and gold. Or, rest a little longer and begin your Taj Mahal visit right after breakfast. We explore the Taj Mahal, the magnificent mausoleum of Mumtaz Mahal built by her adoring spouse, Emperor Shah Jahan. A masterpiece of love, it is considered the most perfect architectural monument in the world! A stroll in the formal gardens and fountains reveals the startling attention to detail of this jewel set beside the placid Yamuna River. This afternoon journey to the massive red sandstone Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here we explore the maze of walled courtyards, mosques, and lavish private chambers, reflecting the grandeur of the Mughal Empire. Spend the rest of the afternoon luxuriating in your lavish resort hotel or, join your Tour Manager on a visit to the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, "a jewel box" built of the finest Indian marble embellished with mosaics and inlay of semi-precious stones. Although it’s known as the Baby Taj, this mausoleum served as inspiration for Shah Jahan and is considered the imminent precursor to the Taj Mahal. DAY 7, Tuesday - Farm Tour & Cooking Lesson, Abhaneri Stepwell, Jaipur - the "Pink City"

On our route to Jaipur, we drive to an organic farm spreading across 20 acres of verdant land. You’re invited to try harvesting and cooking in this perfect organic retreat. After a special tour of the farm, and the opportunity to meet the traditionally dressed farmers and villagers, we join the Chef for the preparation of our lunch - made exclusively with local ingredients, accompanied by piping hot masala chai (tea). Nearby, we stop in the tiny ancient village of Abhaneri to view the 9th-century Abhaneri Stepwell, also known as "Chand Baori" - truly a work of art! This huge stepwell, first of its kind, was a unique idea conceived by villagers that functions as a water reservoir. View the Harshat Mata temple, an architectural jewel, before we arrive in Jaipur, the gorgeous walled capital of Rajasthan, known as the "Pink City." Treasure the free time at our resort hotel nestled in an oasis of dramatic landscaped gardens filled with exotic birdlife and rare flowers. DAY 8, Wednesday - Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, A Royal Palace Evening

A day of magnificent scenes. Our first sight is of Hawa Mahal, the "Palace of Winds," an exquisite sandstone building with delicate lacy latticework and a honeycombed ornamental façade. Ride a Jeep up the ramparts to striking hilltop Amber Fort, decorated in a fusion of Mughal and Hindu styles. View the perfect Palace of Mirrors with its incredible maze of courtyards and lavish private chambers embedded with precious stones that display the richness of the Mughal Empire. From here, enjoy the breathtaking panorama of Jaipur's original city walls and the lake below. After, on to the City Palace, once the residence of the King of Jaipur, a grand royal complex crowned by a museum with extraordinary collections of rare paintings and manuscripts. Stop for lunch before continuing to the well-preserved 18th century Jantar Mantar observatory, crafted of stone and marble; view the ingenious and precise astronomical tools. Afterward, free time to enjoy the fabulous options at the hotel. Tonight, an event arranged exclusively for you. DAY 11, Saturday - Sahelion-ki Bari Garden, Mumbai (Bombay)

This morning, stroll in the serene Sahelion-ki Bari, (Courtyard of the Maidens). This ornamental pleasure garden was designed just for the ladies of the palace; admire the lotus pools, marble pavilions and elephant shaped fountains. Then later this afternoon, a boat ride around pristine Lake Pichola to the resplendent Jag Mandir Palace, built of marble and yellow sandstone. Later, fly to the energetic metropolis of Mumbai with its rich blend of Eastern and Western cultures and home to India’s famous Bollywood film industry. Tonight, dinner together at our hotel

DAY 12, Sunday - Elephanta Caves, Dobhi Ghat, Colonial Mumbai, Farewell Dinner

An unforgettable day today exploring Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located on an island just off the coast of Mumbai. Head to the impressive Gateway of India, built to commemorate the 1911 royal visit of King George V, overlooking the Arabian Sea. Here, board a ferry to Elephanta Island and enjoy the picturesque seaside views, during the one hour cruise. Upon arrival, visit the caves dating back to the 5th century. The cave complex is comprised of massive rock-carved temples and carvings depicting narratives of the goddess Shiva, After touring the cave temples, return to Mumbai for lunch at a popular restaurant. Afterward, view remarkable Dhobi Ghat, where dirty laundry from all over Mumbai is brought to a massive open-air laundry and painstakingly hand washed by the "dhobis" (washermen) in endless rows of concrete troughs fitted with flogging stones. Continue with a drive through colonial Mumbai, with its many buildings and historical monuments still remaining from the British era. Return to the hotel with time to relax before you bid a fond farewell to your Tour Manager and newfound friends at tonight’s elegant Farewell Reception and Dinner, capping a most memorable and extraordinary journey through India
