Company cites global ‘situation’ as cause for suspensions
by Patti Pietschmann, Travel Diva
NCL is cancelling all sailing through August 30, 2020. It is also putting the brakes on September sailings. However Alaska cruises from Seattle are still a go. But both Norwegian Bliss’s Oct. 12, 2020 and Norwegian’s Joy Oct. 4, 2020 voyages are suspended.
Also included in the cancellations are the Oct.4 to Oct. 11 Canada/New England cruises on Norwegian Breakaway. And the Oct. 2 to October 29 on Norwegian Gem. Such a pity as the fall foliage is awesome then.
The cruise line is offering refunds and credits.
Here’s the skinny
Guests who had an active reservation on a suspended cruise listed above will automatically receive a refund of their cruise fare in the form of a Future Cruise Credit for 125% of the amount paid to date on June 25th.
The FCC must be used one year from date of issue for ANY Norwegian Cruise Line voyage embarking through 2022.
If you elect to forego a future cruise credit you can receive a lesser refund equal to the amount paid to date to the original form of payment 90 days after form submission for sailings originally scheduled to embark:
- July 1 – July 31:
By submitting this refund form by no later than 11:59 pm EST on June 19, 2020.
- August 1 – Forward:
For cruise departure dates from August 1 – September 30, in addition to the cruises noted above in October, the refund request form will go live at 9:00 am EST on July 6. You must apply no later than 11:59 pm EST on July 17, 2020.
