It’s the moment Silversea fans have been waiting for. The arrival of Silversea’s Silver Moon. The momentous occasion  took place  at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona.

 

Among attendees were  Richard D. Fain, Chairman and CEO   and Jason Liberty, Executive Vice President and CFO of the Royal Caribbean Group.

Other attending execs included Luigi Matarazzo, Fincantieri’s General Manager Merchant Ships Division,  Roberto Martinoli and Silversea’s President and CEO.

Passing the keys

The proverbial passing of the keys by Giovanni Stecconi, director of Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard officially gives the helm to Captain Alessandro Zanello, former master of   Silver Muse.

Fain calls the Moon a beautiful ship  that represents the resilience of the global cruise industry.  ” Silversea Cruises is the jewel in the crown of the Royal Caribbean Group amd.  Silver Moon the pinnacle of luxury travel, he adds.

Martinoli calls the Moon, “The epitome of 21st-century luxury travel. “ “She possesses a number of innovations that will build on the success of her sister ship Silver Muse,” he adds.

Moon struck 

Debuting aboard Silver Moon is the innovative new culinary enrichment program S.A.L.T.. It is an acronym of Sea and Land Taste. The program provides an immersion into gastronomic experiences of each destination—both on-board and ashore.

As part of the S.A.L.T. program, three new venues will unlock immersive culinary experiences for guests on Silver Moon, forming a hub of culinary discovery on Deck 4. The  S.A.L.T. Kitchen is the first large-scale regional restaurant aboard a luxury cruise ship. The  S.A.L.T. Bar is open for sampling of  authentic wine and spirits flavors of different regions. .

More space per guest 

The 40,700 gross tons Moon carries just 596 guests in ultimate luxury.  Among the many Moon enhancements is a new design for La Dame, Kaiseki and Atlantide.

Additional changes are evident in the popular Dolce Vita lounge which sports a new chic bar. The Connoisseur’s Corner for cigar and cigarette  smokers now offers an indoor/ outdoor  area.
