On February 21, 2020 Christie Brinkley will join an impressive group of famous face to christen a ship. The iconic supermodel will do the honors in Miami for Regent Seven Seas Cruises® gorgeous new Seven Seas Splendor.

Glamorous Godmothers

Cruise line godmothers are an age-old tradition. Scores of lovely ladies have broken the ceremonial champagne bottle on a new ship for decades. It’s a rite of passage in a way welcoming a new vessel to the sea.

Brinkley follows an impressive line of ship godmothers that includes the late, great Mary Tyler Moore who was Crystal Cruises’ very first godmother. My husband and I had the honor of witnessing Moore christening the luxury line’s original Crystal Harmony.

Other great godmothers include Sophia Loren, Mariah Carey, Audrey Hepburn, Princess Diana, Whoopie Goldberg, Angela Lansbury to name a few. One of the most unique choices for the honor was Tinker Bell who christened the Disney Wonder in 1999.

An apt choice for a gorgeous ship

Christie Brinkley personifies the glamour of the 750-passenger Seven Seas Splendor “Christie Brinkley is a universally beloved icon who is synonymous worldwide for her beauty, style and commitment to health and happiness,” says Jason Montague, president and chief executive officer of Regent Seven Seas Cruises. “It’s fitting that the Godmother of Seven Seas Splendor reflects timeless elegance, vitality and sophistication.”

“We learn best about the beautiful world around us by exploring new cities, immersing ourselves in different cultures and interacting with the gracious people who live there,” Brinkley says. “The absolute most invigorating and luxurious way to travel the world is by cruising the seas.”
