From the depths of the Sea to Sky to the heights of the Gold Rush, this variation of our most popular tour includes the highlights of the Canadian Rockies, a Jasper Highlights tour, and two nights in a historic town.
Day 1: Vancouver
Your admission to the Vancouver Lookout is included in your package: get a 360 degree view of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Your adventure starts with a 40 second glass elevator that climbs over 550 feet to the panoramic observation deck. From here, you'll gaze out onto Metro Vancouver’s cosmopolitan downtown, the vast Pacific Ocean, and the beautiful North Shore mountains. Explore the Vancouver Lookout on your own, this is an independent experience for you to enjoy at your own leisure and is not a guided tour. Transportation to and from the Vancouver Lookout is not included. Open from: 8:30am to 10:30pm. It can be used any day during your stay in Vancouver.
Day 2: Vancouver to Whistler
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to the resort town of Whistler, renowned for outstanding skiing and year-round outdoor activities. Following your check-in at and motorcoach transfer from your downtown Vancouver hotel, the Rocky Mountaineer takes you on a breathtaking rail journey through the stunning scenery of the Sea to Sky Corridor. Highlights of the trip include spectacular views of Howe Sound and the Coast Mountains, Brandywine Falls, Mount Garibaldi and the impressive Cheakamus Canyon. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. Overnight in Whistler.
Day 3: Whistler to Quesnel
A complimentary motorcoach will pick you up from your hotel at 6:45am PT and transfer you to Pemberton station (approximately a 35-minute drive), where you will board the Rocky Mountaineer train and travel to the charming rural town of Quesnel, gateway to the North Cariboo. Enjoy breathtaking and varied scenery, from the river canyons and lush farmland of the Pemberton Valley, through the desert-like conditions of the Fraser Canyon, to rolling hills and vast ranchlands of the Cariboo Plateau. Highlights include the shorelines of Anderson Lake and glacier-fed Seton Lake, sweeping views of the Fraser Canyon, and the crossing of Deep Creek Bridge, one of the highest railway bridges in the world. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer follows the banks of the Fraser River into Quesnel. Overnight in Quesnel.
Day 4: Quesnel to Jasper
Your journey continues Eastward today to the majestic Canadian Rockies and Jasper National Park. From Quesnel, the Rocky Mountaineer follows the Fraser River north to the town of Prince George, then travels east through the forests of northern British Columbia, home to plentiful wildlife, including a large population of moose. Entering the Rocky Mountain Trench you are surrounded by the steeply rising Rocky Mountains to the north and the Cariboo Mountains to the south. Continue climbing past Mount Robson, at 3,954 metres (12,972 feet) the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, through Yellowhead Pass into the province of Alberta. Your rail journey ends today on arrival in Jasper. Overnight in Jasper.
Day 5: Jasper
Details: Explore Canada’s indigenous history, foods and culture, on this exclusive interpretive program on the Indigenous groups of the Jasper area. Join us for this 90 minute interpretive program: step into the past, learn traditions, customs and relationship to beautiful turquoise waters of Chaba Imne, now Maligne Lake. Relax by the campfire as local indigenous interpreters regale you with storytelling, drumming and singing. Walk with expert geology and geography guides into Maligne Canyon to view the rock formations. Guests are recommended to dress in layers, and wear comfortable walking shoes.
Day 6: Jasper to Banff
Consisting of a 400 metre (1,640 feet) interpretive boardwalk and a glass-floored observation platform extending 30 metres (98 feet) out over the Sunwapta Valley, Glacier Skywalk takes spectacular scenery and a rare view of nature to unbelievable heights. The award-winning architecture of the Skywalk is a feat of contemporary design.
Day 7: Banff
A half-day tour takes you into Yoho National Park to view some of its natural wonders. Among the attractions are the Spiral Tunnels, Emerald Lake and a natural rock bridge spanning the Kicking Horse River. In the afternoon, you will come back to Banff in a motor coach transfer. Overnight in Banff.
Day 8: Banff to Calgary
Your admission to the Calgary Tower is included in your package: like feeling like you're suspended mid-air? Then you'll love the vantage point on top of the Calgary Tower, with stellar views from 525 feet above the city. With a 360 degree view, spot the rolling foothills that surround Calgary and meet the Rocky Mountains in the distance.
