Days 1-2
Discover Amman, a city that sits majestically on its
famous seven hills. Visit the Citadel, the Archeological Museum,
the Roman Theater and the Folklore Museum. Walk downtown
through the bazaars and the Gold Market to "Darat al Funun," the
cultural mecca for the artists of Jordan. Also, visit Mount Nebo and
the Panorama Museum, overlooking the Dead Sea.
Days 3-5
Drive along King's Highway to Kerak and explore the
Crusader's Castle. Continue to Dana for a traditional tribal arts
tour. Stroll through the terraced gardens, meet local farmers and
visit a traditional bakery. Dinner is prepared by the local women in
the village.
Day 6
Travel to Petra, where after lunch you visit the "Little Petra"
site. This evening, experience The Petra Kitchen, where you gather
to prepare an evening meal, working alongside local women under
the supervision of an experienced chef.
Day 7
Spend a full day exploring the city of Petra, sculpted from
a mountain by the Nabataeans in the third century BC and "lost"
until its rediscovery in 1812.
Day 8
Enjoy a second visit to the magnificent site of Petra, if
you wish; then drive south to Wadi Rum where T. E. Lawrence
(Lawrence of Arabia) lived with his Bedouin friends. Explore
the desert by four-wheel-drive before experiencing a traditional
Bedouin dinner at a Bedouin camp.
Day 9
Drive to the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on earth at
1,306 feet below sea level, and experience "floating" on the surface
of buoyant waters, four times saltier than regular seawater.
Visit the site of Bethany Beyond the Jordan, where Jesus was
baptized by John the Baptist. Enjoy the next day relaxing at your
Dead Sea resort.
Days 10-11
Drive to Amman and continue your onward journey.
