About the Port
Iguazu Falls straddles the border of Argentina and Brazil, where the Iguazu River tumbles over a basalt cliff in a dramatic crescent of roughly 275 individual cascades. Argentina holds about eighty percent of the falls, and a network of metal walkways threads through the subtropical rainforest, bringing visitors close to the cliff face and out over the churning water at the Devil's Throat, the most powerful of the falls. The surrounding national park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, shelters dense jungle alive with birdlife and butterflies.
Most visits combine time on both the Argentine and Brazilian sides, each offering a distinct vantage point on the same vast spectacle. The Brazilian side favors panoramic views across the full crescent, while the Argentine walkways allow closer approach to individual cascades. Iguazu is inland, reached by road or air rather than by ship, making it a signature overland excursion rather than a port call in the traditional sense.
