About the Port
Motu Mahaea is a small private islet set within the lagoon that surrounds Taha'a, ringed by a barrier reef that keeps its waters calm and clear. Palm trees and soft white sand line the shore, making it a natural setting for swimming, snorkeling, and easy water sports, with the coral-studded lagoon drawing much of the day's attention. A relaxed beachside meal typically rounds out the visit, giving travelers time to simply enjoy the setting.
Beyond the motu, Taha'a itself is known as French Polynesia's vanilla island, its interior planted with vanilla vines that thrive in the volcanic soil.
