About the Port
Santa Fe is one of the smaller islands in the Galápagos Archipelago, prized for a compact but remarkably rich shoreline ecosystem. Its beaches shelter a resident colony of sea lions, often found dozing at the water's edge, while the arid interior is home to the endemic Barrington land iguana, found nowhere else on Earth. A tall stand of giant prickly pear cactus, some of the largest in the islands, marks the island's low, scrubby landscape.
Visits typically begin with a nature walk along the beach before time in the water, where snorkeling and glass-bottom boat outings reveal sea turtles, rays, and reef fish in the clear shallows. Landings are made by small panga boats rather than a pier, so travelers should be prepared for a wet, direct step onto sand from the water.
