Day-by-Day Itinerary

9 days through your journey

Day 1

Day: 1

An energetic urban hub for finance with a dynamic arts scene and on-trend café culture, Johannesburg is your journey’s jumping-off point.

Day 2

Day: 2

Chobe National Park is a great patchwork of deep, dense forest, sprawling wetlands and zebra-grazed grasslands. Be it at dawn or dusk, wildlife photographers come in the hope of spotting the park’s starry cast of wildlife. Fly from Johannesburg to Kasane Airport and then proceed overland to Chobe Chilwero, arriving at your lodge in time for lunch. Settle in and relax before afternoon game viewing. Chobe Chilwero Lodge is a luxurious retreat in the heart of the bush, located on the edge of Chobe National Park, with panoramic views over the Chobe River and floodplain below.

Day 3

Day: 3

Start your day early with a hot beverage before joining your guide for a morning game drive. Watch as the animals stir to life and start their day. Elephants are the main event here, with over 120,000 roaming the wilds of Chobe, though hippos, impala, African wild dogs and vultures make welcome appearances against the burning orange skies. Return for a late breakfast and a well-deserved siesta. Late in the afternoon, take off on an afternoon game drive ending with a bush sundowner, set to a backdrop of wide-open parkland.

Day 4

Day: 4

Fly to a vast private concession in the Okavango Delta, the largest inland delta in the world. A watery haven spread across more than a million acres of permanent swamp and seasonally flooded plains, the Okavango Delta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that attracts countless animals from throughout Southern Africa to its thriving ecosystem. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure with a choice of activities, such as a seasonal ride by mokoro (dugout canoe). Later, you may opt for a nighttime game-viewing drive. Settle into one of the 10 individually designed tented suites at beautifully positioned Stanley’s Camp and begin taking in the majesty of the Okavango Delta.

Day 5

Day: 5

Continue exploring the teeming delta on guided morning and afternoon game drives in a customized 4x4 vehicle. You may opt to safari on foot, taking a bush walk with an armed, expert guide instead of a drive.

Day 6

Day: 6

Fly by bush plane to your next stay, extraordinary Chief’s Camp, located on an island in Moremi Game Reserve, possibly the most game-rich region in all of Africa. The camp features ten stylish bush pavilions each with a private dining area, tranquil outside seating area and a terrace pool — all perfect for absorbing the surrounding plains and majestic African skies. Widely acknowledged as the “Predator Capital of Africa,” this is one of the best places in Botswana to see big game — lions, leopards, elephants and Cape buffalo — drawn here by the lush delta. Cheetahs and spotted hyenas also make the scene. View game with your experienced guides or watch life unfold from your private viewing deck.

Day 7

Day: 7

Great predators, including rare wild dogs, as well as elephants, buffalo, red lechwe, giraffes and impala roam the Okavango Delta, as you discover on an early morning game drive. Listen for roaring lions on the hunt or spy nocturnal animals as they start out for the night on your choice of game drives. Back in camp, gather for dinner beneath African skies.

Day 8

Day: 8

Devote the last full day of your safari to exploring this one-of-a-kind ecosystem known for its varied terrains that are home to a vast number of animals, including hippos, lions, elephants, buffalo, wildebeest, cheetahs and many bird species.

Day 9

Day: 9

Fly via Maun to Johannesburg where you connect to your departing flight.
