ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive Nairobi, Kenya
Arrive by overnight flight to Nairobi. Your hotel, Kenya's oldest, has been drawing the rich and famous to its hallowed doors since they first opened on Christmas Day 1904.

Day 2: Nairobi/Laikipia Plateau
Fly to the exclusive Laikipia Plateau. Your private game conservancy is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including an especially large elephant population. During your stay, A&K's exclusive mobile camp affords the most authentic of safari experiences as well as total privacy and indulgent, personalized service.

Day 3: Laikipia Plateau
Search for elephants and rhinos on a full day of game viewing in the placid Laikipia Nature Conservancy. Glimpse indigenous northern species, such as reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, beisa oryx, Somali ostrich and the strangely elegant gerenuk. Try viewing game on an optional horseback ride or night game drive.

Day 4: Laikipia Plateau/Nairobi/Arusha, Tanzania/ Ngorongoro Crater
Fly to the Lake Manyara airstrip and continue overland to the Ngorongoro Crater and your next private safari camp. Ngorongoro was an active volcano some four million years ago; when its cone collapsed, it left a 2,000-foot-deep crater (caldera) that is a haven for many species of wildlife, and one of Africa's most scenic locales.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Crater's volcanic caldera brims with an alluring, densely populated cross-section of East African wildlife. Go on a game drive, searching for lions, elephants, hyenas, wildebeests, zebras and rhinos. A&K hosts an Out of Africa-inspired, gourmet barbecue lunch at a private, shady site. Later, learn about the Maasai people, their culture and traditions while visiting a local village, followed by a private Maasai dance performance back at your camp.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater/Serengeti National Park
Continue to Serengeti National Park, one of the last remaining wildlife spectacles on earth and the site of the annual migration. During this time, an astounding number of herbivores trek across the plains to the Masai Mara, the Serengeti’s Kenya extension, in search of water and fresh grasses.

Days 7-8: Serengeti National Park
Move to your extravagant mobile camp, and spend two days exploring the vast, varied landscapes of the Serengeti. Covering 10,000 square miles, the Serengeti is Tanzania's largest and most famous national park and supports one of the largest concentrations of wildlife in the world. While sleeping under canvas, revel in your camp's scenic location deep in the heart of the wild and enjoy spending your nights under the African stars.

Day 9: Serengeti/Arusha/Nairobi/Masai Mara Game Reserve
Wing your way to Nairobi for lunch at the Carnivore Restaurant. Continue to the Masai Mara, the northern extension of the Serengeti, and your private camp.

Days 10-11: Masai Mara Game Reserve
One of Kenya's most spectacular wildlife areas, the Masai Mara, is yours to explore for the next two days. Running along the Tanzanian border, it forms an essential part of the Serengeti ecosystem and draws huge herds of wildebeests during their annual migration. Along the Mara River, crocodiles bask in the sun, while hippos wallow in the muddy water and monkeys cause mayhem overhead. Meanwhile, elephants roam the forest edge, while a large coalition of lions prepares to hunt. Join fellow travellers for a farewell dinner.

Day 12: Masai Mara/Nairobi/Depart
Fly back to Nairobi and spend the afternoon at leisure; a dayroom is provided for your comfort and convenience. Board your international flight this evening.
