Continue south to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world.
Embark on a short sightseeing tour of this former penal colony
turned busy port before boarding 'Via Australis' and setting sail for
Puerto Williams.

Day 3: Buenos Aires
Cruise to Cape Horn, where the Atlantic meets the Pacific at the
southern tip of the continent, and see the spectacular "Avenue of
Glaciers" and the Strait of Magellan. Daily programs may change
depending on weather and ice conditions, but wildlife viewing is
exceptional. Your on-board lecturers present informal discussions
on the flora, fauna, birds and history of the area. You also have
the opportunity to go by Zodiac to the solitary beaches for an
adventurous trek on land.

Day 4: Buenos Aires/Patagonia
Stop at Magdalena Island, home to an enormous penguin colony,
and walk to the lighthouse that guided explorers and sailors passing
through the Straits of Magellan. Later, visit a typical Magellan farm
for a traditional sheep shearing demonstration en route to Puerto
Natales.

Days 5-6: Patagonia
Look for guanaco and ?and?, as well as other local species en route
to your lodge, built on the shores of Lake Peho? at Torres del Paine
National Park. The park is one of South America's newest nature
reserves and boasts the world's most stunning array of mountains,
glaciers, lakes and forest. As a centerpiece of the rugged region, the
hallmark granite cuernos (horns) and torres (towers) thrust abruptly
skyward from the flat pampa. At their feet, the turquoise, emerald
and aquamarine lakes provide the perfect contrast.

Day 7: Patagonia/Punta Arenas, Chile/Puerto Natales
Spend three full days of adventure in Torres del Paine National Park
in the heart of Patagonia. Explore by vehicle; on horseback with
sustainable trails providing access to places unreachable by car; by
boat, with trips across Lake Grey to the namesake glacier; on Zodiac
boat rides down the Serrano River; and on foot, with treks ranging
from easy walks to much more extensive hikes.

Day 8: Puerto Natales/Torres del Paine National Park
Return to Punta Arenas and fly to Puerto Montt in the Lake
District. Enjoy a brief orientation tour before arriving at your
hotel in Puerto Varas. Enjoy dinner this evening at one of A&K's
suggested restaurants.

Days 9-11: Torres del Paine National Park
Cross the Andes Lake District to Argentina by road through scenic
wilderness with stops at local villages en route. Then board your
private boat in Villa La Angostura by the shores of Lake Nahuel
Huapi to cross to Puerto Tunquelen, arriving in Bariloche this
evening.

Day 12: Torres del Paine National Park/Puerto Varas
Explore Bariloche's Alpine-like scenery of winding streams,
coniferous trees and snow-cropped peaks reflecting in crystalline
lakes. Visit the Llao Llao Peninsula, Lopez Bay and the Cerro
Campanario chairlift. The afternoon is at leisure before a candlelit
farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

Head back to Buenos Aires to board your international flight.
