Day 1 - Arrive Stockholm, Sweden
Arrive in Stockholm, capital of Sweden, where you are met
and transferred to your hotel. Tonight, join your Resident
Tour Director for a briefing and reception followed by a
welcome dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 2 - Stockholm
Today, tour the city, built on a 14-island archipelago. Visit
Gamla Stan (Old Town), walking its cobblestone streets past
shops, museums and galleries as well as the Royal Palace.
Explore the island of Djurgarden and the neighborhood of
Kungsholmen, where you enter the Stockholm City Hall, site of
the Nobel Prize awards banquet. Then, tour the Vasa Museum,
home to the only preserved 17th-century ship in the world.
After lunch at a local restaurant, enjoy the rest of your day
at leisure.
Day 3 - Uppsala & Sigtuna
Travel to Uppsala to tour its soaring Gothic cathedral. Inside,
view the 14th-century murals depicting the legend of Saint
Eric, patron saint of Sweden. After lunch, proceed to Sigtuna,
Sweden’s first town, to appreciate its charming wooden
buildings and cryptic rune stones.
Day 4 - Copenhagen, Denmark
After a leisurely morning, board the express train that whisks
you to Copenhagen, crossing the Oresund Bridge, a five-mile-long
engineering marvel that spans the strait between Sweden
and Denmark. Check in to your hotel and savor a Danish
dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 5 - Copenhagen
Start your day with a city tour of Copenhagen, Denmark’s
elegant capital. Cruise the canals to see the city from a unique
perspective. Spend your afternoon at leisure, with the included
option to visit the Tivoli Gardens. This evening, enjoy dinner
at a restaurant in the gardens.
Day 6 - Elsinore
Tour Fredericksborg Castle, a stunning example of Renaissance
architecture. Proceed to the charming fishing village of Gilleleje
for lunch. Afterward, tour nearby Elsinore’s Kronborg Castle, a
UNESCO World Heritage Site and the setting of Shakespeare’s
Hamlet. Return to Copenhagen.
Day 7 - Copenhagen
On an experience exclusively for A&K guests, learn how
urban beekeeping benefits Copenhagen when you visit the
city’s non-profit cooperative bee association. Stop for lunch
at a local restaurant before boarding an overnight ferry to
Oslo, Norway. Relax in Commodore Class and enjoy the
vessel’s many facilities.
Day 8 - Oslo, Norway
Awaken to the views of the Oslo Fjord as you sail into
Norway’s cosmopolitan capital. After a hearty breakfast,
disembark and visit the Mathallen Food Hall — a market
filled with shops offering top locally produced foods — where you take part in a cooking class on modern Norwegian
cuisine. Enjoy the lunch you helped prepare, and then visit
the city with a local guide. Receive an exclusive behind-the scenes
tour of the stunning waterfront opera house and visit
the Viking Ship Museum, with its restored medieval longships
as well as the Kon-Tiki Museum, housing adventurer Thor
Heyerdahl’s famous expedition vessel.
Day 9 - Oslo
This morning, enjoy one of these Design Your Day activities.
Kayak to Nearby Islands & Beaches, enjoying sea views of
the city, paddling with ease amid the natural surroundings.
Combine Art Appreciation with Active Exploration on a
walk through the landscapes of Ekeberg Sculpture Park.
Walk Oslo’s Old Town with a Local Guide, learning about
historic sites throughout one of the city’s oldest boroughs.
Spend your afternoon at leisure. This evening, gather for a
farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 10 - Depart Oslo
After breakfast, transfer to the airport to depart for home or
begin your post-tour extension.
