The journey kicks off in Denver with a tour through the sites of the foothills, including Red Rocks Amphitheater. It is also in Denver that you board the Rocky Mountaineer for the first leg of your journey to Glenwood Springs. This daylight-only train is a treat for the senses. From the domed glass windows of your train car, take in views of mountains, waterways and lush forests as the train proceeds across the Continental Divide toward its destination. Dine on delicious regional inspired cuisine and delight in the company of other travelers. After an overnight in Glenwood Springs, enjoy your second day on the train, this time bound for Moab, Utah. Look upon tunnels and canyons and watch as red rock arches come into view. On arrival in Utah, experience the beauty of the landscape up-close with a jet boat tour on the Colorado River and time to explore on your own. ITINERARY

Day 1 - Denver
Arrive in Denver, and transfer to your centrally located hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is yours to begin your explorations in this diverse city. Situated amongst the peaks of the Colorado Rockies, Denver is an outdoorsman’s dream. You may wish to set out on one of the hiking trails to get a better view of the mountains and nature surrounding you. Alternatively, explore the city’s cultural sites, such as the Denver Art Museum or the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, or check out one of the bountiful craft breweries. Overnight Denver.

Day 2 - Foothills Explorer Tour
Spend half a day exploring the attractions of the Denver foothills on today’s intimate group tour. This excursion takes you to local hotspots, including the Red Rocks Amphitheater and Lookout Mountain. Experience beautiful views from Lariat Loop, a 33-mile scenic byway located just west of the city. Further, the tour pauses in the town of Evergreen for a coffee or wine tasting, whichever suits your preferences. On return to Denver, the remainder of the day is yours to continue sightseeing independently. Overnight Denver.

Day 3 - Rocky Mountaineer to Glenwood Springs
Make your way to Union Station this morning, where your train, the Rocky Mountaineer, awaits. As you board, settle into your seat and watch as the mountains begin to fade into the backdrop. The train’s route is highly scenic and showcases the Southwest’s diversity, from its evergreen forests and beautiful waterways to canyons, striking rock formations and rugged mountain peaks. Savor both the views and the incredible onboard cuisine as the route proceeds across the Utah border and into Colorado. Early this evening, the train arrives in Glenwood Springs. Transfer from the train station to your hotel, and then take the evening to enjoy the amenities of this resort town. The culinary scene here is incredibly diverse, and there are many restaurants with outdoor seating options that allow you to savor both your meal and the mountainous vistas. Day 4 - Rocky Mountaineer to Moab
Board the luxurious Rocky Mountaineer this morning to complete your journey through Colorado to the red rocks of Moab, Utah. After leaving Glenwood Springs, the train travels through Colorado’s wine country, proceeds into Ruby Canyon and ventures into desert-like landscapes before crossing the Colorado-Utah border. You arrive in Moab early this afternoon, with the remainder of the day at leisure to begin your explorations. Perhaps start your sightseeing in town at one of the art galleries, museums and microbreweries that dot the streets. If you are ready to escape to nature, Moab is a fantastic place for hiking, rock climbing and whitewater rafting. Overnight Moab. (B)

Day 5 - Jet Boat Tour on the Colorado River
Look upon steep canyon walls and dramatic rock formations while cruising upon the Colorado River by jet boat today. This 3-hour tour offers another vantage point on Moab and allows you to see breathtaking natural sights, including a fossilized seabed and Native American petroglyphs. Following the tour, return to Moab with the rest of the day to continue your explorations at leisure. Overnight Moab.
