About the Port
Aride Island lies at the northern edge of the Seychelles archipelago, its granite cliffs and coconut palms rising above fine-sand beaches. Protected as a nature reserve and managed for conservation, the island is largely free of development, giving its dense native vegetation over to more than thirty species of seabirds that nest here in extraordinary numbers.
Visitors come ashore to walk quiet forest trails accompanied by wardens or naturalists familiar with the terrain, spotting terns, shearwaters, and other rare species amid the greenery. Landings depend on calm sea conditions, and access is typically by small boat rather than a fixed pier, so mornings tend to offer the best chance of a smooth arrival. The island rewards patient observation over spectacle, making it a natural counterpoint to the Seychelles' more populated resort islands.

Follow a warden-led trail through dense native vegetation to spot nesting terns, shearwaters, and other rare seabirds up close. Trails are short but slow-paced, so allow an hour or more and wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes.

Bring a zoom lens for the island's dense seabird nesting sites, among the densest in the Indian Ocean, with some species approachable at close range. Best light and bird activity tend to be earlier in the morning.
Beach Time Beneath the Cliffs
Unwind on the fine-sand beach backed by granite cliffs and coconut palms before or after the forest walk. Landings are by small boat and weather-dependent, so keep timing flexible.
