About The Port Of Breisach
Perched on a volcanic outcrop above the Rhine, Breisach marks the meeting point of the Black Forest and the Alsace region, giving it a distinctive blend of German and French influences in its food, wine, and architecture. Rebuilt with care after World War II, the town retains cobbled streets and pastel-hued houses, crowned by the Romanesque-Gothic St. Stephen's church, visible for miles around. Its position along the river has long made it a natural crossing point between two cultures.
Breisach serves as a convenient base for exploring Freiburg im Breisgau, often called the capital of the Black Forest, known for its old town and regional specialties. Wine lovers can explore vineyards along the nearby slopes, while cyclists find gentle terrain for exploring the surrounding countryside. The historic center sits within easy walking distance of the riverside pier, making independent exploration simple for visitors with limited time ashore.
