About the Port
Canal de las Montanas, or Fjord of the Mountains, threads for 41 miles through one of Patagonia's most dramatic corners of coastline. Steep, jagged peaks rise directly from the water on both sides of the narrow channel, their slopes streaked with cascading waterfalls fed by snowmelt and rain. Five glaciers reach down toward the channel, occasionally calving into the cold waters below, making this stretch a highlight for those who track the region's ice fields.
There is no town or pier here; travelers experience the channel entirely from the ship's deck as it navigates the passage. The remoteness is part of its appeal, offering an unbroken view of glacial ice, dark water, and steep granite walls largely untouched by development.
