About the Port
Canouan lies in the southern Grenadines, a compact island of roughly three square miles set some 20 miles south of Mustique. Its coastline alternates between calm, protected bays and open Atlantic shore, and the surrounding waters hold one of the larger coral reef systems in the Caribbean, drawing snorkelers and divers to its clear shallows. The island's small size and light development have kept its beaches largely uncrowded.
Calls typically anchor offshore, with tenders ferrying travelers to the island's marina, a convenient base for kayaking and other easygoing water activities. Beyond the shoreline, Canouan's pace stays unhurried, with little in the way of dense development to distract from the scenery. It suits those drawn to a quieter corner of the Grenadines, where the appeal lies less in landmarks than in open water, fine sand, and easy access to the reef just offshore.
