About the Port
Corfu's old town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, reflects centuries of Venetian, French, and British rule in its shuttered alleyways, arcaded streets, and the wide green expanse of the Spianada, one of the largest public squares in Europe. Outside the capital, the Achilleion Palace, built in the late nineteenth century for Empress Elisabeth of Austria, offers a glimpse of imperial taste amid gardens overlooking the coastline.
