About the Port
One of the earliest inhabited islands in the Galápagos archipelago, Floreana carries a history of pirates, whalers, and settlers dating back centuries. At Post Office Bay, a wooden barrel placed by 18th-century sailors still serves as an informal mail exchange, a quirky tradition that continues among visitors today. Darwin's finches, yellow warblers, and lava lizards inhabit the surrounding scrub, while nearby waters offer chances to snorkel alongside reef fish and sea turtles.
