About the Port
Glacier Bay National Park spans some 3.3 million acres of fjords, forests, and ice at the northern edge of the Inside Passage, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. Tidewater glaciers descend from the Fairweather Range, where annual snowfall can exceed 200 feet, calving into cold blue waters framed by steep, forested slopes. The bay's constantly shifting ice has drawn naturalists and explorers for generations, and its scale still feels untouched by comparison.
Most visits unfold entirely by water, with vessels cruising slowly past active glacier faces while onboard naturalists point out details of the terrain. Humpback whales, sea otters, seals, and soaring bald eagles are commonly sighted along the way, and the groan and crack of moving ice adds its own soundtrack to the scenery. No piers or towns interrupt the wilderness here—the park is experienced entirely from the deck, making it one of the rare ports where the ship itself is the vantage point.
