About the Port
Isla Guy Fawkes is a small archipelago of volcanic islets lying just off the coast of Santiago Island in the Galápagos, reachable only by tender or panga since no dock or town exists here. Uninhabited and largely untouched, the islets rise starkly from clear water, their rocky shores and surrounding shallows forming a haven for marine life rather than any built attraction.
Visitors come primarily for wildlife encounters: sea lions bask on the rocks, marine iguanas gather along the shoreline, and a variety of seabirds nest among the crags. The surrounding waters are known for snorkeling, where sea turtles, rays, and colorful reef fish are commonly spotted. Because there is no settlement or infrastructure, the appeal lies entirely in nature, making this a stop best suited to travelers seeking close, unfiltered contact with the Galápagos ecosystem.
Pavlus Recommendations
How our planners would spend a day in Isla Guy Fawkes.
Snorkel the Islet Channels
Slip into the clear shallows between the islets to swim alongside sea turtles, rays, and reef fish in one of the archipelago's richest patches of water. Panga drop-offs put snorkelers right over the best reef, so wetsuits and gear should be ready before boarding.
Panga Ride Along the Cliffs
Since no landing exists here, a slow panga cruise along the volcanic rock faces is the way to see nesting seabirds and sunning sea lions up close. Bring a zoom lens, as wildlife often perches just above the waterline.
Spot Marine Iguanas Shoreside
Scan the dark rocks at the tideline for marine iguanas gathered in clusters, a sight unique to the Galápagos. Best viewed from the panga at a respectful distance, since there's no trail or shore access on these uninhabited islets.
