La Digue Island

A slow-paced granite jewel of the Seychelles, where pink sands and giant boulders meet impossibly clear water

All Cruise Ports

About the Port

La Digue is the smallest of the three main inhabited islands of the Seychelles, a granite outpost where bicycles and ox carts still outnumber cars. Its unhurried pace suits the scenery: swaying palms, weathered boulders, and a handful of small settlements linked by shaded lanes. The island's signature stretch, Anse Source d'Argent, is among the most photographed beaches in the world, its pale pink sand set against sculpted granite formations and shallow turquoise shallows.

Visitors typically arrive by boat from neighboring Praslin, landing near the small hub of La Passe within easy reach of the island's beaches and bicycle-rental stands. Walking or cycling remains the best way to explore, since paved roads are few and traffic is minimal. The island rewards a relaxed visit, whether spent swimming, wandering granite outcrops, or simply watching daily life move at its own gentle rhythm.

Pavlus Recommendations

How our planners would spend a day in La Digue Island.

Cycle to L'Union Estate

Rent a bicycle near La Passe and pedal past a working coconut plantation and old vanilla plots to reach Anse Source d'Argent, still one of the most photographed beaches on earth.

Swim at Anse Cocos

A short walk or bike ride beyond Grand Anse leads to this quieter, wave-swept beach framed by granite boulders, a rewarding contrast to the busier shoreline near town.

Wander La Passe's Lanes

Stroll the small hub's shaded roads on foot, past creole houses, giant tortoises, and modest chapels, for a glimpse of the island's unhurried daily rhythm.
