About Laikipia Plateau
The Laikipia Plateau stretches across Kenya's central highlands, a patchwork of private and community conservancies rising toward the flanks of Mount Kenya. Once ranching country, it has become one of Africa's great conservation success stories: fences came down, wildlife rebounded, and today Laikipia shelters some of Kenya's most important populations of rhino, Grevy's zebra, and African wild dog alongside elephant, lion, and leopard.
Because the land is privately and community managed, Laikipia offers freedoms the national parks cannot — guided bush walks, night drives, horseback and camel excursions, and conservancy visits that put travelers close to the science and the people behind the wildlife recovery.
