About the Port
Metlakatla sits on Annette Island in the Alexander Archipelago of southeast Alaska, reachable by ferry or small vessel from Ketchikan. Founded in 1887 by Tsimshian settlers under the guidance of lay missionary William Duncan, it remains the only reserve of its kind in Alaska, set apart from the state's borough system.
