About the Port
Ordas is a small village along the left bank of the Danube, set within one of Hungary's most fertile agricultural regions, long known for its paprika cultivation. The village itself is unassuming, but its riverside dock serves as a gateway to the wider Great Hungarian Plain, or Puszta, a landscape of open grassland and rural tradition that has shaped much of the nation's folk culture.
Beyond Ordas, the Puszta is celebrated for its equestrian heritage, where Magyar horsemen have long demonstrated riding and herding skills passed down through generations. The region is equally known for intricate embroidery and other folk art rooted in centuries-old village life. Travelers docking here find the village itself compact and easily seen on foot, with the surrounding plain best explored on an excursion inland.
