About the Port
Skopelos rises from the Aegean in tiers of dense pine forest and whitewashed villages, its coastline etched with quiet coves and beaches that gained wide fame as a filming location for Mamma Mia. Skopelos Town, the island's main harbor, climbs from the waterfront in narrow lanes lined with stone houses and small Byzantine churches, many capped with slate roofs typical of the northern Sporades.
Beyond town, the island unfolds into orchards, olive groves, and forested hillsides that give way to beaches such as Kastani and Panormos, prized for clear, calm water. The old town is walkable directly from the harbor, making it easy to wander its lanes, pause at a taverna for local honey and cheese pies, and take in views over the port before continuing on to explore the coast.
