About the Port
The route south from Sun Peaks traces the historic Cariboo Wagon Trail, once a lifeline for prospectors bound for the interior goldfields. Lillooet, known as Mile 0 of the Gold Rush Route, marks the journey's midpoint before the road follows the rushing waters of Cayoosh Creek and the shores of Seton and Duffey Lakes, framed by some of the province's most rugged mountain scenery.
The passage ends in Whistler, a resort town nestled at the base of Blackcomb and Whistler Mountains and host of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Village lanes lined with shops, cafés, and lodges sit within easy walking distance of the base area, making orientation simple upon arrival. Together the drive and destination offer a compact introduction to both the natural grandeur and pioneer history of interior British Columbia.

Ride the Peak 2 Peak Gondola
This gondola links Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, offering sweeping views of glaciers and valleys below. Reachable directly from the village base, the round-trip takes about an hour with time to linger at the top.
Stroll Whistler Village
Pedestrian-only lanes wind past shops, cafés, and Olympic-era plazas, all within easy walking distance of the mountain base. An evening ramble is an easy way to get oriented after the long scenic drive.
Pause at Seton and Duffey Lakes
Roadside stops along these turquoise lakes reveal the rugged Coast Mountains framing the old Cariboo Wagon Trail. A short break here offers some of the drive's best photo opportunities before reaching Whistler.
