About the Port
The Middle Rhine Valley traces one of Europe's great river landscapes, where the Rhine narrows between steep, vine-covered slopes and rocky outcrops. Dozens of medieval castles and fortress ruins crown the hillsides, remnants of the tolls and rivalries once tied to river trade. Near St. Goarshausen, the Lorelei Rock rises above the water, long associated with legends of a siren said to lure sailors onto the rocks below.
Passage through the valley unfolds gradually from open decks, with vineyard terraces, half-timbered villages, and castle silhouettes shifting into view at every bend.
