Day 1: Vancouver
Your admission to the Vancouver Lookout is included in your package: get a 360 degree view of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Your adventure starts with a 40 second glass elevator that climbs over 550 feet to the panoramic observation deck. From here, you'll gaze out onto Metro Vancouver’s cosmopolitan downtown, the vast Pacific Ocean, and the beautiful North Shore mountains. Explore the Vancouver Lookout on your own. Transportation to and from the Vancouver Lookout is not included. Open from: 8:30am to 10:30pm.
Day 2: Vancouver to Kamloops
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia?s interior. On today?s journey you will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains, to the desert-like environment of the BC interior. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell?s Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer travels along the shores of Kamloops Lake into Kamloops. Overnight in Kamloops.
Day 3: Kamloops to Banff
Your journey continues Eastward to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Once again you will see a spectacular array of scenery as you travel across ranchlands, along rocky lakeshores, over high mountain passes and through the remarkable tunnels that form part of the rich rail history of the Canadian Rockies. Today?s highlights include Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven, the climb over Rogers Pass, Kicking Horse Canyon, the Spiral Tunnels and, of course, the glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Your rail journey ends this evening in the resort town of Banff. Overnight in Banff.
Day 4: Banff
Details: Explore the history of Banff, sample authentic Canadian treats, and get up close with local flora and fauna, on this exclusive interpretive program of the sights and sounds of the Rockies. Join us for a one-hour interpretative program: relax in under warm blankets with our signature Minnewanka tea, local bannock and s’mores for campfire story-time with our expert guides’ stories from Banff’s early days of exploration and adventure. Guests are recommended to dress in layers, and wear comfortable walking shoes.
Day 5: Banff to Lake Louise
A half-day tour takes you into Yoho National Park to view some of its natural wonders. Among the attractions are the Spiral Tunnels, Emerald Lake and a natural rock bridge spanning the Kicking Horse River. The tour ends in Lake Louise where the remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure to enjoy this magnificent location. Overnight in Lake Louise. Please note: While arrival at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise will be approximately 1:00 p.m., scheduled check-in time is not until 4:00 p.m. In the event that your room is not ready, your luggage will be stored and you are free to enjoy the amenities of the hotel.
Day 6: Lake Louise to Jasper
Consisting of a 400 metre (1,640 feet) interpretive boardwalk and a glass-floored observation platform extending 30 metres (98 feet) out over the Sunwapta Valley, Glacier Skywalk takes spectacular scenery and a rare view of nature to unbelievable heights. The award-winning architecture of the Skywalk is a feat of contemporary design.
Day 7: Jasper
Jasper National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the Canadian Rockies? largest national park. Today you will enjoy a scenic half-day tour of some of the park?s natural attractions and rugged peaks, and perhaps catch a glimpse of the wildlife that calls this region home. Highlights inlcude breakfast at Maligne Canyon teahouse and a stroll to view the canyon itself. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore more of Jasper independently. Overnight in Jasper.
Day 8: Jasper to Kamloops
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from Jasper in the Canadian Rockies to Kamloops, in the heart of the British Columbia Interior. As you journey west and south you will be surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Continental Divide and by the river valleys of the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains. Today?s highlights include Mount Robson, Pyramid Falls, the climb over Yellowhead Pass, and the journey along the North Thompson River as you approach Kamloops. Overnight in Kamloops.
Day 9: Kamloops to Vancouver
Your journey continues west towards the Pacific Ocean and the coastal city of Vancouver. On today?s journey you will again see dramatic changes in scenery, from the desert-like environment of the Interior, through winding river canyons and pristine forests, to the Coast and Cascade Mountains and the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley. Highlights include the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River and the rushing waters of Hell?s Gate in the Fraser Canyon. Your rail journey ends on arrival in Vancouver this evening. Overnight in Vancouver.
Day 10: Vancouver
