And more is to come!
What’s a Single Supplement?
Those traveling as a single cruise passenger or solo guest on an escorted tour may be asked to pay a single supplement. Simply put, the travel supplier charges the solo traveler one fare, PLUS a second one — called the single supplement. The supplier’s thinking is that two people could occupy the same cabin or room, meaning greater revenue.
But now, as more and more guests are heading out as solo travelers, travel companies have taken notice. Now, they’re doing more to enhance options for solo travelers.
Definitely chat with Pavlus Travel today about the range of possibilities! Consider your Pavlus personal travel planner as a valuable resource. And you’ll never pay a service fee.
The Latest Solo Travel Deals*
As of February 10, 2025, we’ve gathered a potpourri of enticing solo travel offers. Certain terms and deadlines apply, though.* Many are limited time offers, so just contact Pavlus Travel right away to learn more and check availability for your specific planned travel dates and stateroom/room preferences.* Here goes…
In early 2025, ultra-luxury Regent Seven Seas Cruises introduced reduced solo supplements on select sailings in multiple destinations.
Sister brand Oceania Cruises offers select solo staterooms. Plus, the line currently has a solo travel offer through March 31, 2025. Those booking by that date have opportunities to receive a reduced single supplement IF they book on select voyages and in certain cabin categories.
The offer has many sailings listed for Marina, Insignia, Nautica, Regatta, Sirena, Riviera and Vista. The percentage of supplement reduction varies sizably — from 5 percent to 20 percent in category S, for example.
Small-ship American Cruise Lines (ACL) sails myriad itineraries from the “Great Rivers of Florida” to voyages on the Mississippi, Ohio, Snake, Columbia, Hudson and other American rivers. It also plies Alaska, Florida, Pacific Northwest, and Maine coastal waters.
One unique nuance? ACL offers some solo cabins priced at solo fares; while those can be slightly more expensive than the price per person for two people sharing a cabin, BUT — and this is important — they offer more “per person space” than what a couple might have in certain cabins.
Explora Journeys delivers “an ocean state of mind” and a mega-yacht-style luxury experience on the high seas. Now, here’s a great deal! Right now, Pavlus Travel is able to offer its solo travel clients a fully waived solo supplement if they book in Ocean, Grand Terraces and Ocean Penthouses on select Explora Journeys sailings.
Plus, there are also special solo supplements on select journeys for that luxury cruise line in 2025. So, give Pavlus a call at (800) 528-9300.
On global rivers, upscale AmaWaterways offers a 10-to-25 percent solo supplement on select sailings. Even better? Guests who reserve select 2025 Europe sailings will pay no additional supplemental fee; that’s applicable to all stateroom categories (excluding suites) when you reserve by March 31, 2025.
In addition, AmaWaterways waives the single supplement on select European vessels (AmaCello, AmaDante, AmaDolce and AmaLyra), which a limited number of single occupancy staterooms with French balconies; these specially designed staterooms span 140 square feet. So, for those solo cabin, you’ll simply pay the standard per person cruise fare, with no additional supplement.
In a recent virtual discussion with Pavlus’ clients, Steve Spivak, global vice president of sales and service, Tauck, explained that solo travelers are “a very important and growing part of our business.
As a result, this year EVERY Tauck river cruise Category 1 cabin has no solo supplement for single occupancy! And on Tauck ships, that’s typically six or eight Category 1 cabins.
Plus, many Tauck river cruises offer special solo savings available on upgraded cabins. So, if you don’t want to stay in a Category 1 cabin, that’s fine. You still may have other solo savings options in a higher category cabin.
Prefer an escorted land tour vacation? Well, Tauck’s land journeys also have solo traveler rates. Ask about special solo savings on specific land tour departures.
