Graceful, yacht-like 'Anjodi' invites you on a voyage of discovery in a blissful region of southern France, cruising between Le Somail and Marseillan. Visit Molière's home of Pézenas and pass through the Fonserannes Locks. Disembark to visit Narbonne's indoor market, enjoy a wine tasting and explore the walled city of Carcassonne, the most complete medieval fortified city still in existence.
Day 1 - SUNDAY
Meet in Narbonne, and transfer to ‘Anjodi,’ moored in the fishing village of Marseillan, for a welcome reception.
Day 2 - MONDAY
Visit Pézenas, a delightful town rich with artisans that has also attracted actors, singers and performing artists — most notably the 17th-century playwright Molière. Then cruise to Portiragnes by way of the Bagnas Nature Reserve, a string of lagoons in the Cap d’Agde that are home to flamingoes and other water birds.
Day 3 - TUESDAY
Today, 'Anjodi' passes through the staircase of locks at Fonserannes, built by Pierre-Paul Riquet in the 17th century. Then, savor a wine tasting at Château Pech-Céleyran.. Dinner is ashore this evening in Béziers.
Day 4 - WEDNESDAY
Visit Narbonne today to explore the delightful indoor market. Then tour this ancient Roman city, once situated along the Via Domitia (Roman road).
Day 5 - THURSDAY
Cruise on Canal de la Robine this morning. In the afternoon, take an excursion to Minerve, ancient capital of the Minervois, where there are spectacular views from the 12th-century Cathar fort.
Day 6 - FRIDAY
Visit the fascinating walled city of Carcassonne, the most complete medieval fortified city still in existence. The old town, called “La Cité,” looks much as it did in the Middle Ages. It is surrounded by a double circuit of walls and towers, and there is time to stroll the winding cobblestoned streets. In the late afternoon, cruise to the village of Le Somail for a special farewell dinner on board the barge.
Day 7 - SATURDAY
After breakfast, transfer to Narbonne, where your program ends.
