Day 1 - Arrive Nairobi, Kenya
Arrive in Nairobi, where you are met and transferred to your hotel, and enjoy the balance of your day at leisure. Located five miles from Nairobi National Park and the Giraffe Center, Hemingways Nairobi looks out over the rolling landscape and Ngong Hills. This boutique hotel's 45 suites evoke the romance of a vintage East African safari.
Day 2 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
This morning, fly to the Masai Mara. Upon landing, transfer by private vehicle to Sanctuary Olonana. Relax on an afternoon at leisure, enjoy your stay in the secluded, ultra-luxurious Geoffrey Kent Suite, a sophisticated free-flowing space complete with two fully en-suite private bedrooms and an additional connecting bedroom for children, all accessed via a private road; or set out on an afternoon game drive. A vast expanse of plain with spectacular wildlife, the Masai Mara has the greatest concentration of species in the country. The action never seems to stop, and the chain of command begins with the Mara's lion population, the largest in the country. As your afternoon game drive ends, head to a specially chosen vantage for a sundowner overlooking the Mara plains.
Day 3 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
Begin first of three exciting days filled with game drives across the limitless plains in search of abundant game in one of Kenya’s most spectacular areas. Running along the Tanzanian border, the Mara forms an essential part of the Serengeti eco-system. In the Mara River, watch for crocodiles basking in the sun and hippos wallowing in the muddy water as monkeys frolic overhead. Look forward to sightings of some of the large population of lions living here. You many also observe elephant grazing at the forest edge and giraffes surveying the plains, watching from a window seat of your private vehicle, which takes you up close in comfort and safety. In between game drives, savor a fresh-cooked bush breakfast, a picnic in the midst of the wild and, back in camp mouth-watering dinners made from ingredients grown on the grounds. On at least one night of your journey, enjoy a classic African sundowner experience complete with fireside canapés and the refreshing cocktail of your choice, as you take in the Mara’s stunning vistas.
Day 4 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
The adventure continues today as you explore the reserve on game drives, guided walks and with delicious bush meals. The jewel in Africa's crown, Masai Mara is host to the most spectacular array of wildlife. The western border of the park is the spectacular Siria Escarpment, and together with the acacia dotted plains, it creates scenery of stunning beauty. Game viewing is never dull in the Mara, and patience is often rewarded with unique sightings: a pride of lion stalking their prey; a solitary leopard retrieving its kill from the high branches of an acacia tree; male wildebeest sparring to attract females into their harem; or even a herd of elephant protecting their young from opportunistic predators. As well as wildlife, the Masai Mara is also home to many members of the colorful Maasai tribe who may be seen around the borders of the park, their morans (warriors) loping across the plains, young boys herding goats, or elders grouped under a tree discussing matters of the day.
Day 5 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
Step out on your private wraparound deck overlooking the river and breath in the fresh air to welcome your final full day of exploration in the Masai Mara. Explore the reserve on game drives and guided walks. During one of your mornings in the Mara (in place of a morning game drive), you may choose to partake of an optional hot air balloon ride for an additional expense, basking in the stillness as you float above the plains, the forest and the rivers of the Masai Mara.
Day 6 - Depart Nairobi
After breakfast, fly to Nairobi. Upon arrival at Wilson Airport, you transfer to your hotel where a dayroom has been reserved for your use. Spend the afternoon at leisure. This evening, based on your homebound flight departure time, you are transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
