‘Roi Soleil’ passes through the great staircase of locks at Fonserannes. Today, you may explore Pézenas, known for its architecture and antique shops; Roquebrun, a picturesque village that clings to the hills above the River Orb; or Oppidum d’Ensérune, a pre-Roman archaeological site.
Day 3 - Tuesday
Cruise to the historic village of Capestang, where you may privately visit the 11th-century Cistercian Abbaye de Fontfroide, one of the most complete remaining abbey complexes in Europe, and enjoy a wine tasting at a Corbières château.
Day 4 - Wednesday
Enjoy an excursion to charming Narbonne today. Once a Roman capital, the town is home to a famous archaeological museum within the Bishop's Palace, as well as a modern-day food market. The barge then cruises to the tranquil country village of Le Somail.
Day 5 - Thursday
Visit the hilltop village of Minerve, with a dramatic history dating from the Crusades. Then, stop at a prized olive oil mill at Oulibo and a Languedoc village. Later in the day, cruise to Roubia.
Day 6 - Friday
Pass through many locks on the morning cruise to Homps. Explore Carcassonne, Europe’s largest medieval fortress. Tonight's farewell dinner celebrates a wonderful week on board.
