Arrive in Rio de Janeiro, known for its samba, Carnival and dazzling beaches. But this former colonial city also boasts historic architecture, incredible natural scenery and iconic sights, such as the towering statue of Christ the Redeemer. After transferring to your hotel, spend the day discovering 16th- and 17th-century, Portuguese-era buildings and landmarks, like Cathedral at Lapa Arches, Casa Franca-Brasil and Marechal Floriano Square. Have coffee at Confeitaria Colombo Restaurant.

Ascend Corcovado (Hunchback) Mountain. See the Santa Teresa neighborhood; enjoy a barbecue lunch at a local restaurant; and absorb panoramic views from Sugar Loaf Mountain.

Spend a day at leisure enjoying your beachfront setting.

Depart for Iguazu Falls. Take a flora- and fauna-rich walking tour of the falls from the Brazilian side. At a catwalk, experience the incredible power of millions of barrels of falling water as you are brought within arm’s length of the rumbling cataracts. You may also climb a wooden staircase 115 feet to see the falls from the top. Have lunch where the Iguazu River tumbles over the Parana Plateau. Take an optional helicopter flight above the falls.

Witness the impressive Argentine side of the falls. Traverse a catwalk through a lush rainforest and over Devil’s Throat. Return to the Brazilian side for an afternoon at leisure.

Fly to Manaus. Spend the remainder of day at leisure exploring the city.

Embark on a city tour, visiting Teatro Amazonas, a beautiful opera house, and the Adolpho Lisboa Municipal Market, a cast-iron copy in miniature of Paris’s famed Les Halles market building, opened in 1882. Attend a welcome party on board your river cruiser.

Cruise the stunning Amazon River, awakening to the songs of birds and distinct calls of wildlife. Keep your camera at the ready as your search for parrots, monkeys and anacondas during photo safaris. Fish for piranhas, and relax on deck while taking in the lush setting.

Transfer to the airport and board your homebound flight.
