Day 1 - Arrive Nairobi, Kenya
Arrive in Nairobi, your gateway to a dramatic procession of natural spectacles and wildlife in Kenya and Tanzania, among the most thrilling, exotic destinations in the world.
Day 2 - Amboseli National Park
Drive to Amboseli National Park, known for its thriving big game population and views of towering Mount Kilimanjaro. After lunch, explore the acacia woodland, freshwater swamps, scrub brush and open plains in search of wildlife. Part of the park is composed of a dried-up lakebed, where mirages rise from the shimmering heat.
Day 3 - Amboseli National Park
Set out at dawn, watching for elephants, zebras and wildebeest along the saltpan trails. Spend midday at leisure before taking an afternoon game drive.
Day 4 - Lake Manyara National Park
Travel by road to Arusha, crossing the border of Tanzania. After stopping for lunch in Arusha, continue to the village of Mto wa Mbu, where you ride as a local would by tuk-tuk, viewing rice fields and the local community as you go. Afterward, browse the colorful stalls of the village market, as merchants display locally grown rice and bananas in a variety of colors. Later, continue to your lodge, located in a picturesque region of the Great Rift Valley.
Day 5 - Ngorongoro Crater
Enjoy a game drive through Lake Manyara National Park and discover diverse wildlife
and many bird species amid a tangle of rainforest-like foliage. After a farm-fresh lunch, continue to the Ngorongoro Crater, a natural wildlife haven formed from a collapsed volcano, and check in to your lodge on the crater’s rim.
Day 6 - Ngorongoro Crater
Wind your way through the landscape of Ngorongoro Crater. Its prairies are an ideal spot to see hyenas, buffalo and gazelles; the crater also boasts a large lion population. After a picnic lunch, visit a Maasai village to experience its culture firsthand.
Day 8 - Serengeti National Park
Drive to the vast, wildlife-rich Serengeti National Park, stopping en route for a privately guided tour of Olduvai Gorge. The Serengeti is home to lions, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs, giraffes and topi. The Serengeti is also the setting of the Great Migration, and your morning and afternoon game drives include the opportunity to witness the astounding herds of migrating zebras and wildebeest up close.
Day 9 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
Fly to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. This afternoon, a game drive introduces you to the famed reserve, where you find the greatest concentration of species in all of Kenya.
Day 11 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
Spend the next two days in the Mara, more than 500 square miles of savannas, woodlands and tree-fringed rivers that shelter an astonishing range of wildlife, made up of more than 400 bird species and nearly a hundred animal species, including all the great predators. Watch crocodiles bask in the sun, hippos wallow in the muddy water and monkeys frolic overhead; see elephants roam the forest edge, as lanky, graceful giraffes survey the plains.
Day 12 - Depart Nairobi
Fly back to Nairobi and spend the afternoon at leisure in a comfortable dayroom. In the evening, transfer to the airport for your departure.
