ITINERARY

This morning's sightseeing begins with an excursion around the port city of Casablanca, Morocco's largest city. Visit the Hassan II Grand Mosque, the tallest religious structure in the world, with a glass floor looking directly down over the ocean. Journey to the capital city of Rabat to visit the 12th-century Mauresque-style Hassan Tower and the Mohammed V Mausoleum. La Tour Hassan B

Days 1-2: USA or Canada/Casablanca, Morocco
Recall the splendors of the past in Meknes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco's imperial cities. Later, continue to Volubilis (also a UNESCO World Heritage Site), one of the largest and best preserved Roman ruins in Morocco. The mosaics in particular are stunning. Riad Fes B

Day 3: Casablanca/Rabat
Pass through the distinctive Blue Gate to begin exploring Fez - one of Morocco's cultural capitals and the country's intellectual center for centuries. Morning sightseeing includes Fez el Jadid (modern Fez) and the mellah or Jewish Quarter. Visit Nejjarine Square, Dar Batha and the Bou Inania Medersa. Continuing, view the Royal Palace and large Kairaouine Mosque and then explore some of the 9,000 streets along with the souks (markets) of Fes el Bali (old Fez). Riad Fes B

Day 4: Rabat/Meknes/Volubilis/Fez
Journey into North Africa's greatest mountain range, the Middle Atlas, and then onto Marrakech, the "Pearl of the South" to discover its mysteries: the Koutoubia minaret, the Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace and the Menara gardens. Sofitel Marrakech Palais Imperial B

Day 5: Fez
Set out to uncover the secrets of Marrakech, the most famous city in Morocco. Most of the city's architectural attractions are inside the Medina, the old walled section of the town. Built in the 12th century, the Koutoubia minaret is the most perfect Islamic religious structure in North Africa; its distinctive appearance has inspired Islamic architects throughout Europe and Africa. Day 6: Fez/Marrakech
Enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride to discover the gardens of Marrakech, beginning with the Menara gardens, which are set in an extensive olive grove. The Jardin Majorelle was designed by the French artist Jacques Majorelle, who turned his garden into a tropical paradise surrounded by vivid cobalt blue buildings, lily-covered pools and enormous cactuses.
