ITINERARY

Fly to Cusco and acclimatize before this afternoon's tour of the city and ruins of Qenqo and Sacsayhuaman, a testament to Incan engineering and architectural skills. Hotel Monasterio B

Days 1-2: USA or Canada/Lima, Peru
Explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas with visits to Ollantaytambo and Pisac, the famous indigenous market. After lunch, witness a traditional weaving demonstration. Hotel Monasterio B L

Day 3: Lima/Cusco
Board the Vistadome train to Machu Picchu, the "Lost City of the Incas." Accompanied by your A&K guide, explore this breathtaking Incan citadel. Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge B L D

Day 4: Cusco/Sacred Valley/Cusco
See Machu Picchu at sunrise before the crowds arrive. As you observe the ruins through an early morning mist, contemplate the lives of the Incas who once lived here and disappeared without a written trace. Return to Cusco this afternoon. Hotel Monasterio B L

Day 5: Cusco/Machu Picchu
Fly to Quito for an afternoon city tour. For nearly three centuries, the arts and intellectual societies flourished under Spanish colonial rule in Quito and left as souvenirs ornate churches, cathedrals and Baroque architecture in the Old Town. Day 6: Machu Picchu/Cusco
Fly to the Gal??pagos and board 'Eclipse.' Weather, water and wildlife conditions affect actual day-by-day itineraries, but visits are planned for the main islands and their landmarks. 'Eclipse' carries pangas, rubber boats that carry you to island beaches where you wander among the Galapagos' unique species. Watch sea lion sunbathing, dodge Sally Lightfoot crab scuttling past on the beach and catch the impassive eye of a century-old tortoise. Day 7: Cusco/Quito, Ecuador
