ITINERARY

A local guide takes you to Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace, the Queen's official residence in Scotland. End your day in Leith with a visit to the former royal yacht 'Britannia.' The Balmoral B

Days 1-2: USA or Canada/Edinburgh, Scotland
Begin your luxurious three-night rail journey on The Royal Scotsman. Enjoy afternoon tea as you travel along the edge of Gare Loch toward Arrochar, where you have your first glimpse of Loch Lomond. There are spectacular views of Rannoch Moor before you arrive in Spean Bridge where the train stables overnight. After a formal dinner, enjoy entertainment in the observation car. Day 3: Edinburgh
Look out the window for a view of Ben Nevis before the route follows the stunning coastline to Arisaig. Disembark for a walk along the beautiful Morar Sands. Return to the train for lunch en route to Fort William. Visit Glenfinnan Monument with Ray Owens, a historic storyteller. Day 4: Edinburgh/Spean Bridge
Travel south toward Glasgow before heading to Gourock. At Wemyss you take a ferry across to the Isle of Bute. From St. Blane's Chapel at the south of the island to the abandoned townships in Glen More at the north, every stone seems to have its tale to tell. Arrive at Mount Stuart, Britain's most spectacular Victorian Gothic house. Once afternoon tea is served, you have time to explore this magnificent residence and gardens. Day 5: Spean Bridge/Bridge of Orchy
Disembark in Edinburgh and continue into the Scottish countryside to stately Hopetoun House, often known as the "Versailles of Scotland." Later, explore the historic university town of St. Andrews en route to your renowned hotel in the Perthshire countryside. Gleneagles Hotel B

Day 6: Bridge of Orchy/Wemyss Bay
Today is free to enjoy the facilities of the Gleneagles estate. Perhaps book an appointment with a personal trainer for a fitness assessment, swim, play tennis or pamper yourself with a spa treatment. You may also engage in equestrian activities, golf, fishing or falconry. Your driver-guide and private vehicle are at your disposal should you decide to further explore the region.
