Visit Magdalena Island to see penguins and a lighthouse that guides ships through the Straits of Magellan. Then travel to the spectacular Torres del Paine National Park, a land of sparkling lakes, mountains and glaciers. Your lodging is in the park, where your guides offer park exploration by vehicle, on foot and on horseback.
Board a flight to Punta Arenas, the jump-off point for any trip to Chilean Patagonia. On arrival in Punta Arenas, meet your local A&K representative and begin your journey. Stop at Magdalena Island, home to an enormous penguin colony, and walk to the lighthouse that guided explorers and sailors passing
through the Straits of Magellan. Later, visit a typical Patagonian estancia (ranch).
Day 2
This morning, you are met at your hotel and driven across windswept plains to the spectacular Torres Del Paine National Park. The park is one of South America's newest nature reserves and boasts the world's most stunning array of
mountains, glaciers, lakes and forest. As a centerpiece of the rugged region, the hallmark granite cuernos (horns) and torres (towers) thrust abruptly skyward from the flat pampa. At their feet, the turquoise, emerald and aquamarine lakes provide the perfect contrast. Your accommodations are set within the park, offering spectacular views and escorted activities.
Day 3
Explore as you wish during your stay in the Paine. Your resort guides are available to help you choose the best activities for your pace. Explore by vehicle; on horseback with sustainable trails providing access to places unreachable by car; by boat, with trips across Lake Grey to the namesake glacier; on Zodiac boat rides down the Serrano River; and on foot, with treks ranging from easy walks to much more extensive hikes.
Days 4-6
After breakfast, drive to Punta Arenas to board your flight to Santiago where you are assisted with your international flight connection.
