Day 1 - Arrive Bangkok, Thailand
Arrive in Bangkok, where you are met and transferred to your hotel.
Day 2 - Bangkok
Visit the Grand Palace, a beautiful example of a royal Siamese
court, and Wat Phra Kaew, home to the revered Emerald Buddha
statue. Then, Ride Like a Local by tuk-tuk to Wat Pho temple, to
behold the 150-foot-long Reclining Buddha statue. Next, explore
the city’s renowned klongs (canals) by boat and cruise the Chao
Phraya River. Also visit Wat Arun and the Royal Barge Museum.
Tonight, enjoy a welcome dinner at your hotel.
Day 3 - Bangkok
Travel outside the city limits to a floating market where vendors
sell their wares from small boats laden with goods. Drive to a
market set up on railroad tracks, where vendors take down and reset
their displays to accommodate the passing of each train. Finish
with lunch at a local restaurant.
Day 4 - Chiang Rai
Fly to Chiang Rai, and then journey into the countryside to your
enchanting accommodations. Later, embark on a cruise on the
Mekong River, followed by dinner at your hotel.
Day 5 - Chiang Rai
Set off on a fascinating excursion, exploring the “Golden
Triangle” — a mountainous region where Thailand, Myanmar
and Laos meet. Explore the ruins of sacred temples and defensive
walls in Chiang Saen. This afternoon, enjoy time at leisure at
your hotel, capped off with a scenic sundowner before dinner.
Day 6 - Chiang Rai/Chiang Mai
Drive to Chiang Mai, stopping en route at sparkling Wat Rong
Khun, also called “The White Temple,” to view its fine murals
and paintings. Arrive in Chiang Mai, and tonight gather for a
unique dining experience at the home of the late Thai author,
Rong Wong-savun, savoring a home-cooked meal prepared by
his widow, Sumalee.
Day 7 - Chiang Mai
Visit a fascinating local market, and then return to your hotel for an interactive Chef’s Table experience. In the afternoon, visit a textile museum to view a wonderful selection of Thai textiles and learn about the individual hill tribes where they originated. Then, and enjoy a private audience with a monk at a Buddhist temple. Proceed to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep for sunset views.
Day 8 - Chiang Mai/Phuket
This morning, set out for Waroros Market to browse locally made products and ride a trishaw to Wat Phra Singh. Later, fly to Phuket, where you check in to your hotel and enjoy dinner on the beach.
Day 9 - Phuket
Set out on a city tour of Phuket, including the Phuket Thai
Hua Museum, housed in a charming 1930s British-colonial-style
mansion. Then, savor a lunch of authentic Thai cuisine at the Blue
Elephant, a historic 105-year-old landmark. Enjoy the remainder
of your day at leisure.
Day 10 - Phuket
After a morning at leisure, embark by speedboat to Phi Phi Island,
one of the most beautiful destinations in Asia. Swim or snorkel in
shallow, crystal blue waters, visit the Viking Cave to view what are
believed to be prehistoric wall paintings, and relax on the white
sand beaches of this lush tropical paradise. Tonight, gather with
fellow guests for a farewell dinner.
Day 12 - Depart Bangkok
Fly to Bangkok, transfer to your hotel and use an executive room
for up to 24 hours after check-in. Depart tonight or the next day.
