DAY 3, Friday - Visit Oberammergau and Neuschwanstein
This morning, take a short drive, passing the impressive Ettal Abbey, a Benedictine monastery to the Alpine town of Oberammergau, world-famous for the Passion Play, with its colorful "music box" wooden chalets and painted facades. Perhaps shop for local handicrafts and wood carvings. Continue to see Mad King Ludwig's famous dream castle Neuschwanstein, one of the most iconic sights in Germany. Upon arrival, admire fine examples of Imperial splendor. Visit the medieval Altstadt and stop at the Golden Roof, overlooking a bustling square in the heart of historic Innsbruck. Visit Wilten Basilica, one of the most splendid churches in Tyrol, with its stunning rococo decorations. Innsbruck has hosted two Winter Olympic Games in 1964 & 1976. Ascend to the top of the famous ski jump used in the Olympics by funicular.
