Tierra Atacama is an adventure spa hotel, a place where guests combine active enjoyment of the desert with profound restfulness. Tierra presents the great beauty of the Altiplano via guided hikes, bikes, horseback rides and in vans. Back at the hotel, rejuvenation comes from massages, pool time, lounging on outdoor beds, meditation and conversation as well as lovely cocktails and meals. Tierra Atacama’s architecture, interior design and gardens were designed by some of Chile’s leading creative talent. Our objectives were to be as authentic as possible, using furniture and accessories handmade with local materials. The resulting spaces excite, relax and inspire our guests. Tierra Atacama's all-inclusive programs include one full-day or two half-day excursions per day.  Guests consult with the head guide at the beginning of their stay to select the best excursions for them, taking into account individual interests and fitness levels. Guests can choose from a wide selection of activities including hikes, walks, bicycle rides, horseback rides, volcano climbs and excursions in our vehicles. Our chefs use local ingredients prepared in a style that considers health conscious yet hungry guests. The wine list is extensive, including boutique and organic wines.  The bar serves a wide variety of drinks, including old favorites as well as Chilean standards like the pisco sour plus fun local twists like pisco sours with "rica-rica", an Atacameñan herb. Located in a separate building, Uma Spa (“water” in the local Aymará language) has a heated indoor pool with bubble beds, jets and cascades as well as relaxation areas with volcano views. Facilities include steam baths, an outdoor pool and Jacuzzi.  Services include a full range of massages and facials, with specialist treatments based on the local desert elements.  Sustainability is a strong factor at Tierra Atacama, and guests are invited to join in actively protecting our fragile planet. The hotel's sustainability initiatives include solar panels to help reduce electricity consumption, in-house water-recycling system and our landscaping concept which preserves local vegetation and trees, and emphasizes agriculture with seasonal plantings such as corn, quinoa, figs and other fruits, vegetables and herbs.   San Pedro de Atacama is an oasis in the middle of the desert, and with relatively stable temperatures throughout the year, makes for a great year-round destination.  Tierra Atacama feels like home in the middle of the driest desert in the world.
