About the Port
Easter Island, known to its Rapa Nui people as Te Pito o Te Henua, rises from the South Pacific more than two thousand miles from the Chilean mainland, making it one of the most isolated inhabited places on earth. Its enduring fame rests on the moai, the monumental stone figures carved by early Rapa Nui islanders and set upon ceremonial platforms called ahu across the island's volcanic terrain. Sites such as Rano Raraku, the quarry where many statues were carved, and the coastal platform of Ahu Tongariki reveal the scale of this ancient achievement.
Hanga Roa, the island's only town, sits near the pier and offers a walkable introduction to Rapa Nui culture, craft markets, and small museums. Because ships typically anchor offshore, tender access is standard here. Beyond town, the ceremonial village of Orongo and the island's grassy, treeless expanses evoke a place shaped equally by human ingenuity and natural isolation.

Relax at Anakena Beach
A palm-fringed white-sand cove on the island's north shore, home to restored moai standing sentinel over turquoise water. Reaching it requires a taxi or tour transfer of roughly 45 minutes each way.

Seven identical statues face the sea from a hillside, unusual among moai and linked to island astronomy legends. It's a quieter counterpoint to the coastal ahu sites, easily paired with a half-day tour.
Visit Puna Pau's Red Quarry
