Royal Naval Dockyard, Bermuda

A fortress of Bermuda's seafaring past turned harborside village of museums, shops, and turquoise coves

All Cruise Ports

About the Port

Royal Naval Dockyard occupies the western tip of Bermuda, a nineteenth-century British naval stronghold built of pale limestone and coral rock. Ships dock directly alongside its old quays, placing the fortress walls, Clocktower buildings, and former Commissioner's House within easy walking distance. That house now anchors the National Museum of Bermuda, where exhibits trace the island's maritime and military history across ramparts and tunnels once meant to guard the fleet.

Beyond the fortifications, the Dockyard has settled into a relaxed harborside village of boutiques, cafes, and craft stalls set among restored naval buildings. Snorkel Park Beach sits just outside the walls, offering calm, clear water for a swim without leaving the port area. Ferries from the Dockyard make it simple to reach Hamilton or the historic lanes of St. George's, giving arriving travelers a practical gateway to the rest of Bermuda.

Pavlus Recommendations

How our planners would spend a day in Royal Naval Dockyard.

Explore the National Museum of Bermuda

Wander the Commissioner's House and old ramparts for exhibits on shipwrecks, slavery, and naval history; plan on an hour or two to see the grounds properly.

Swim at Snorkel Park Beach

Duck just outside the fortress walls for a sheltered cove with calm turquoise water, loungers, and gear rentals, an easy dip without leaving the port.

Ferry to Hamilton or St. George's

Catch the fast ferry from the Dockyard dock to explore Bermuda's capital or the pastel lanes of St. George's; the ride itself offers fine harbor views and runs roughly 20-45 minutes each way.
