ON THIS SEVEN-DAY CANADIAN ROCKIES RAIL JOURNEY, YOU'LL CAPTURE VIEWS OF MOUNTAINS AND VALLEYS ONLY ACCESSIBLE BY TRAIN, VISIT THE STUNNING LAKE LOUISE, AND EXPLORE THE CITY LIFE OF VANCOUVER AND CALGARY. THIS VACATION IS ALSO AVAILABLE FROM CALGARY TO VANCOUVER BASED ON YOUR TRAVEL PREFERENCE.

Begin your trip through the south of British Columbia as you explore Vancouver with an adventurous tour of the great outdoors. Trek across the Capilano Suspension Bridge, which rises 70 meters above the river. Then enjoy a Treetops Adventure canopy walk that takes you above the rainforest for unforgettable views.

You will love the scenery flying by as you travel on the Rocky Mountaineer on your way east to Kamloops. As you travel further east into the interior of Canada, you will witness the diverse landscape changing right before your eyes. You'll see mountain ranges, rivers, canyons, lush forests, and even deserts on this beautiful journey.

After a stay in Kamloops, you'll continue your travel by train as you head toward the resort town of Banff. Travel through the extensive tunnels as you cut through the Canadian Rockies, and enjoy mountaintop views of the land. Keep an eye out for wildlife!

Next, you'll trek through Yoho National Park, set along the western slope of the Continental Divide. This park, named after the Cree expression of awe and wonder, is full of natural wonders like rock bridges, waterfalls, and pristine lakes and rivers.

At Lake Louise, enjoy the stunning emerald lake, which is fed by the surrounding glaciers on high mountain peaks. Hike, bike, or just stroll through this lovely location with time on your own. After your overnight in Lake Louise, enjoy your last stretch of travel as you say goodbye to the Rockies and head into cosmopolitan Calgary.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Vancouver
Arrive in Vancouver and spend time exploring this scenic city on your own. Overnight Vancouver.

Day 2 - Vancouver Sightseeing
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Vancouver and a visit to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Highlights include Canada Place, Robson Street, historic Gastown, and Granville Island Public Market. Your tour stops in Stanley Park en route to the Capilano Suspension Bridge in the North Shore rainforest. Experience Treetops Adventure: breathtakingly suspended across the Capilano River, seven suspension bridges take you high above the forest floor amid towering evergreens and serene trails. The Cliffwalk is a 700 foot long walkway taking you along the granite cliffside of Capilano Canyon on a series of bridges, platforms, and stairways cantilevered up to 30 storeys above the Capilano River. Overnight Vancouver.

Day 3 - Vancouver to Kamloops
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia's interior. On today's journey, you will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser River valley, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade mountains, to the desert-like environment of the interior. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell's Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer travels along the shores of Kamloops Lake and into Kamloops. Overnight Kamloops. (B, L)

Day 4 - Kamloops to Banff
Your journey continues eastwards to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Once again you will see a spectacular array of scenery as you travel across ranchlands, along rocky lakeshores, over high mountain passes and through the remarkable tunnels that form part of the rich rail history of the Canadian Rockies. Today's highlights include Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven, the climb over Rogers Pass, the Kicking Horse Canyon, the Spiral Tunnels and, of course, the glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Your rail journey ends in the resort town of Banff this evening. Overnight Banff. (B, L)

Day 5 - Banff to Lake Louise
A half-day tour* takes you into Yoho National Park to view some of its wonders. Highlights include the Spiral Tunnels, Emerald Lake and a natural rock bridge that spans the Kicking Horse River. Upon arrival in Lake Louise, the remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure. Overnight Lake Louise. *Yoho National Park tour is available May 1 – October 17. A standard motorcoach transfer from Banff to Lake Louise will be used outside these dates.

Day 6 - Lake Louise to Calgary
Enjoy a scenic drive from Lake Louise to Calgary. Overnight Calgary.

Day 7 - Calgary
Your vacation ends with check-out from your Calgary hotel.
