Day: 1
Arrive in Singapore and transfer privately to your hotel. Singapore’s sci-fi cityscape has inspired a futuristic mindset, and much of the city is buffed to such a high sheen that you can see your reflection in it. Peranakan-style shophouses are dwarfed by vertiginous high rises, while award-winning bak chor mee is served in bright bowlfuls at the UNESCO-protected hawker markets. In this city of superlatives, no gesture is too grand, no detail too small.
Day: 2
Begin your day at spectacular Gardens by the Bay, observing the resident flora and fauna and experiencing the futuristic Supertree Observatory. Discover Singapore’s Chinatown and learn about the city’s legacy as a center for the spice trade on a visit to Ang Siang Hill. The afternoon is yours to explore the city at your own pace. Embark on a sunset bumboat cruise down the Singapore River into Clarke Quay before joining your fellow guests for a welcome dinner.
Day: 3
Board the striking green and cream carriages for the start of your journey aboard the Eastern & Oriental Express. Settle into your modern cabin and watch the scenery unfold as the train travels through the lush, green landscapes of Malaysia. Have afternoon tea or relax in your cabin, before gathering for dinner and entertainment in the Dining Car.
Day: 4
Soak up the morning vistas as the train courses past rice paddies and timeless rural villages. Arrive in Perlis, in the far northwestern corner of Malaysia. Take your choice of enticing excursions: Cruise by speedboat to a beach in Langkawi for some relaxation, followed by a scenic ride along the channels of Kilim Geoforest Park; cycle through a national park teeming with primates and birds, ending with a visit to a former tin mine; or soak in Perlis’ rich artistic traditions, learning to make your own batik and perusing a local antique collection. The train stables near Penang tonight.
Day: 5
Discover Penang Island with the activity of your choice. Art lovers can hop on the back of a vespa scooter to visit local artist studios. Foodies can roam an aromatic spice market, then learn local recipes at a cooking class held in a lavish bungalow. Explore independently if you like, with a cycle-rickshaw, driver and map at your disposal.
Day: 6
Bid farewell to the train before visiting the National Orchid Garden, a lush oasis boasting a colorful display of 60,000 orchids representing 400 species and more than 2,000 hybrids. Singapore is compact and easy to navigate — perfect for exploration on your own this evening.
Day: 7
Fly to Bali, a place of lofty volcanoes, rice paddy terraces and magnificent sandy beaches. Along the way, have lunch at a local restaurant and visit revered Batuan Temple. Check into your resort, spending the rest of your day as you like.
Day: 8
Visit the Setia Darma House of Mask and Puppets, where a master painter leads you in a private painting session. A relaxed farm-to-table lunch follows, with a gentle walk through the gardens to see some of the ingredients behind the menu.
Day: 9
Unwind at your resort or explore Ubud with a private guide and driver.
Day: 10
Following a relaxing morning, depart for Jimbaran Bay. Visit Bali’s first winery open to the public for a tasting followed by lunch and wine pairings. In SAKA Museum, Bali’s living traditions are beautifully presented through modern design and immersive storytelling. Settle into your private villa in your luxury resort.
